Reviews:
The quality at this Pep Boys sure isn`t what it used to be! Let the consumer beware!!
It was first suggested to me by my family to take my car to this Pep Boys a few years ago. Since my dad is very particular about service and who he trusts his vehicles with, I took the suggestion. I had some minor maintenance done on one of my vehicles and tires replaced.
On New Years Day `04, I had problems with my brakes and needed to get my brakes replaced. I checked to see if a brake job was something tha... view moret my dad had done on any of his vehicles at Pep Boys. I was told yes and that he didn`t have any problem. So, I took my Grand Am down for a brake job. I had my vehicle in THREE TIMES for the same problem! Now, I have young children that I drive around town with. Brakes are a slightly important thing on a car. Well, I was told the first time that there must`ve been defective parts; the second time (a few months later) I was told that there was nothing wrong; the third time was about 1 year since the work was originally done and I was told some other excuse. At no time did anyone at Pep Boys take any responsibility for shady workmanship.
In August `06 I had a different vehicle that had problems. Well, Pep Boys used to offer a ""free tow"" if you had your vehicle towed to their shop and authorized work to be done. NOT ANYMORE!! I was supposed to have the tow at no cost (according to the phone rep) if I spent more than $100 in services. My vehicle sat for two days while they did practically nothing with it. I was told they couldn`t find anything ""wrong""but possibly a leak in the manifold (the guy told my boyfriend he ""guessed""!!) and charged me $173 for a diagnostic and tow. I still had a car that wasn`t working.
The funny thing is, I took it into Auto Technician in Seattle (the mechanic that works on the fleet trucks at my office) a few days later and they not only found the problem, but fixed it, too!
Pep Boys should just focus on changing oil. Leave the repairs up to the real mechanics!
