Great Quality & Service at a Good Price!!
A co worker recommended Emerald City Auto to me so I gave them a try for a noise I was hearing in my front end. They found 2 bad ball joints, called with an estimate about 2 hours after I dropped the car off I gave them the ok to replace the ball joints. Got my car back the same day and the price was better than I expected! Noise is gone and my car drives better than it has in a couple of years. I will be going bac... view morek to them for anything my car needs in the future.

If you like your car take it elsewhere!
I took my car to Emerald City last summer to replace the clutch. It took a week or so to get finished for some reason, that was never explained, didn`t figure it out til later.
I finally pick it up and they tell me reverse is sticky and it will work its way out. When I get into reverse its grinding. I trust them because I had always gotten good service from them prior to this incident.
The grinding never gets b... view moreetter and I get used to it and somewhat forget about it. I take the car in for an unrelated matter. When I get the car back again, I can immediately feel that someone tinkered with the clutch (without my permission). It feels very smooth and I think they have actually fixed it this time. The next day I can barely get into reverse, first, or second. I am sometimes starting from third gear from a dead stop because it takes all my strength to get it in gear.
I take it back to emerald city the next day. I get really vague answers about it being the transmission going bad and they told me I should scrap my car.
I don`t believe its the transmission so i get a second opinion. A transmission specialist tells me it is not the transmission but the clutch.
1. Emerald City installed a defective clutch into my car.
2. Instead of re-ordering a clutch that wasn`t defective they ground down my clutch arm to try to get it to release properly. Hence the grinding reverse gear.
3. They installed washers in another attempt to `fix` the defective clutch.
I had to pay the new guy to replace the defective clutch. I eventually re-couped a portion of the money i lost but it took weeks of calling (multiple times a day) and tracking the owner down to do so.
The worst part is that multiple people lied to my face when they knew exactly what was wrong with my car, and they told to scrap it based on a false claim.
I`m happy to report that my car is running beautifully again.

Wish I would have found these guys years ago
.I took my car to these guys this last week on 10-09-2009 because my check engine light was on. I did not tell them I had taken my car to another shop for a price quote on Tuesday. The quote they gave me was for the exact same repairs as the first shop and Emerald city was 46.00 cheaper than my first quote. I had Emerald City perform the repairs, everything went PERFECT it came to the same cost they had quoted me and... view more the work was completed the same day 2 hours earlier than they had said when I dropped my car off. While I was there they also performed a FREE safety check and found I needed front brakes and a cooling system service. I went home and called around to compare prices on these repairs and found them to be cheaper again. I will make an appointment tomorrow morning to get the additional repairs done. When I found out how fair and honest they were on Friday I told some of my co workers who will also be taking there cars to Emerald City for repairs in the near future.

Wonderful fast and fair service
I had a wonderful experience at this shop, the atmosphere was definately rustic, would liked to have seen more. I had called for a quote for doing my brakes and diagnose an engine problem, I left it there for them too look at while I walked to get some lunch and I hadn`t even made it half way through my lunch before I was called to tell me they had figured out the engine problem and how much it would be for the brake... view more work, they were very reasonably priced and was able to finish it the same Day!! When I got the car back it ran great!!When I asked about the type of parts they used and why some didn`t match what the dealer sold, they gave me a Manufacturer service bulitin that showed the correct part to use for my vehicle to fix a design flaw. And they even gave me a list of other areas that could use some TLC in the future. Which is good cause winter is coming and I had never thought how important my coolant can be and how much damage it could do if not changed.
Very friendly, I will definately take my car in their for the rest of the service it will need.

Total Rip Off
If I write down everything these guys have done to screw me over, this review would be like 3 pages long. So I will keep it short and sweet. Don`t go there!
They totally overcharge for shoddy work at best. After they replaced my EGR valve, i have had to go back 3 TIMES (!!) because it still wasnt fixed. The check engine light came on again 2 days after the second time they were supposed to have repaired it, so... view more i took it in to get a second opinion and found out not only did they overcharge me for parts, but that some of the parts were rebuilt.
I called AC Delco and the EGR valve is $169. Emerald City charged me $209. Not only did they overcharge me, they didnt even use new parts or put the gasket in (which comes in the box with the EGR valve).
In total, Emerald City charged me $310 for parts and labor and Tony (at Tony`s Greenwood auto) quoted me at $209 to do the same job.
I went in to Emerald city today and asked for a refund. Don (the owner?) told me to ""shove it up my a*#"". how professional.
If you want your car repaired correctly the first time, not to get ripped off, or to be treated with any respect, DO NOT patronize this business

Found a new repair shop for my baby!
My car broke down about 8 miles from my home and regular mechanic. Tow truck driver recommended Emerald City Auto Repair. The repair shop called with an estimate to replace my fuel pump, I called my normal repair shop to ask his opinion and he said the price Emerald City quoted was 60.00 less than what he would have charged so I went ahead with the repairs at Emerald City. The car was done that afternoon as promised... view more!! I not used to that as my regular mechanic takes a day or more to repair my car. After picking my car up I found out they had also replaced the fuel filter and that was included in the quoted price! My regular mechanic told me it would be an additional 40.00 to replace the filter when I called for his quote. The service was VERY friendly and fast!!!!! The decor is out of this world, like stepping back into the 50s. I have found a new repair shop for all of my repair needs. Will recommend to all of my friends and co workers

Stereotypical Garage Behavior
Since these guys have my information on file, I will be discreet. I`ve checked the reviews, and these guys had a pretty good reputation, so I had them work on my vehicle. I had 2 problems that required service. One was a part that went dead, the other was a dead battery. They made the repair really fast. I received the phone call a day and a half later stating the part was replaced, and they also put in a new battery... view more... the cost was just over $1000; about $300 more than I hoped, but I had the cash and dealt with it. While on the phone, I was told that it starts just fine, but now that they had a chance to test it in working order, they noticed there was a serious problem with the power-steering motor. I was asked if I wanted it to be replaced before I came to pick it up. I declined, because I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER-STEERING BEFORE IT WENT TO THE SHOP, ever, and figured I would need to drive it to understand what they were talking about. I got there about an hour later, paid the bill, and then started it up. That was the good part! When I was pulling out of the spot to get on the road, I understood what they were talking about regarding the steering. It was like I never had power-steering. It was extremely hard to turn, and it ""pulsed"" whenever I turned the wheel, even slightly. I GOT HOME, POPPED THE HOOD, AND REALIZED 2 THINGS WERE SERIOUSLY WRONG!!! #1 They had installed the largest, most expensive battery they had, and #2... NO POWER-STEERING FLUID!! These guys run a garage, but DIDN`T CHECK THE STEERING FLUID? Really?? They wanted to install a new steering motor, but didn`t see I was extremely low on fluid? I drove to the store and bought a $3 bottle of power-steering fluid, and I have not had a problem ever since. I have no proof, other than the fact I NEVER had a problem with the steering, but I still feel like they drained the fluid out. Again, I have no proof, but the size and cost of the battery they installed tells me they took me for a chump.

Loyal, ,,shop manager`s ethics and morals exceptional
Emerald City is a place I know that Ii do not have to wprry about whether they are giving me an honest assessment of my vehicle needs, the shop manager has given me confidence that they will not onlyy look out for my vehicle but me also understanding in these tight times that keeping costs under control and offering the most for my dollar makes me a loyal customer

Honest diagnostics and repairs at a fair price
These guys are as fair and honest as it gets!! Took my car in to them after taking it to a tire store next door that could not fix it after 3 days and $1200.00 in unneeded repairs. They had it diagnosed and called me back 2 hours later with a diagnoses and price to repair a burnt valve. Told them to go a head and fix it after I called a couple of other shops to compare costs [Emerald city was over $100.00 less tha... view moren other quotes], they were done in 1 1/2 days and the price was EXACTLY what they quoted me!! The car has not run this well the entire time I have owned it, Go see the guys at Emerald City Auto repair you will happy you did! Wish I had found them before I wasted $1200.00.

TMBarnes, I doubt very highly you was Betrayed by Emerald City Auto Repair
When someone gives you a quote of a certain amount it will cost before working on the vehicle, this doesn`t mean once the mechanic looks under the hood of your vehicle, that he won`t see other problems that you or he never knew about. The customer isn`t working on the car to know what is going on with it, the mechanic has to do that. I know there are some businesses out there that are cut throats because I have work... view moreed for some of them types of shops in the past; but there are some shops that aren`t cut throats and Emerald City Auto Repair isn`t one of the bad guys you feel they are. It seems to me that you may have gone to a few repair shops in the past that did you wrong, and due to that, you assumed Emerald City Auto Repair was doing the same to you because they came across some other issues with your vehicle that needed attention.
