I live downtown and was a customer for 7or more years. Ron was my trusted mechanic.

I was told he retired,(not true he transferred to West Seattle Elliott/Goodyear) I continued to take my car because of convenience and my past experiences but I would always have to return my car because it was not fixed properly. Take your car to Goodyear/Elliott Tires in West Seattle. When the manager left downtown to manage west Seattle all the good mechanics went with him including Ron. Ron did retire however the manager Larry will take care of you

Total con artists!

Why can`t I give NO STARS? I just wrote a long tirade on Yelp, so I can`t be bothered to retype the whole thing, but I wanted to spread the word as much as possible that these guys will make up phone repeair needs AND charge (or at least try) you way more than other shops for those repairs.

I`ve had a couple of minor issues with them, but the place is really close to my home and work, so I continued to use the... view morem for oil changes. The last time, they told me they noticed one strut leaking and told me I should replace all 4... for $2000! Luckily, I told them not to do anything, took it to a place that got rave reviews and found out that not a thing was wrong with my car. They even took me under and showed me where a strut leak would happen and what it would look like. Not to mention that when a strut is leaking, you replace the pair but not all 4! That took me all of 5 minutes to learn on the internet.

Not Recommended

I went in for a brake issue, the estimate was for around $1000. When I didn`t just jump at this, I was told I could easily get a Goodyear credit card to help pay. After saying that I wanted to take my car somewhere else for another estimate, they panicked and sent me a new estimate, this time for $580. I compared what they were charging for parts against prices I could find online. I was somewhat content to see that ... view morewhat they were now charging for parts was near to what was listed. When I compared the numbers against the 1st estimate, they tried to charge 3-4 times the list price! They also cut out a lot of labor charges that I can only assume were bogus as well, because, in the end, they fixed my problem in about 2 hours. I understand that in the car world that this is standard practice, but such a clear case of trying to take advantage of someone is inexcusable, especially from a national, ""reputable"" company.

BEWARE: Think very carefully about taking your vehicle here

Took my truck there because it was making noise in the fan belt area. They suggested I replace my tensioner and belt, both which were less than a year old. Against my better judgement I had them do the work, which was 300% more than what I spent to have the exact same work done a year earlier (I moved from San Francisco 3 months ago so I couldn`t go back to the original mechanic.) Got the truck back and the noise ... view morewas worse than before I left it...the noise moved from only when idling to all the time, worst when accellerating, which was never a problem before. Took it back in, they looked at it again, and told me they THINK it MIGHT be one of two ADDITIONAL things, but can`t be sure if either of them will fix the noise. Hmm, I thought the initial work was supposed to fix the noise. So now they want to charge me $150 more (on top of $425) to fix one of the new ""possibilities"".

If you want a mechanic that works on a ""trial and error"" basis, these are the guys for you. But I`d try to find someone who stands by their work.
