Took my Outback to Hopkins in ...
Took my Outback to Hopkins in summer of 2010 for AC leak and to replace valve cover gasket. Was told a dye test would be done on AC system. Was told later that day that the AC compressor had a leak and would need to be replaced at cost near $1,000. I decided to wait. Valve cover gaskets replaced at a reasonable cost. When i inspected the work on the gaskets later, i noticed that all but a couple bolts securing the co... view morever were very loose to not even threaded on the left side cover. The bolts on the bottom were tight, but none on the top. I tightened myself. I contacted Hopkins and they casually said sorry and offered me a free oil change. I later took my car to another shop to verify that the AC compressor was indeed needing to be replaced. The new shop not only said the compressor was fine, but they could not find any evidence that a dye/leak test was performed on my AC system that would be needed to show the compressor was bad. The new shop indicated that a large and easily detectable leak was in a hose and they replaced it at a cost near $200. It was conveyed that if a dye/leak test was actually performed on my system, the leak would have been easily observed. I feel that Hopkins as a company, or a dishonest repair tech, was trying to get me to spend money extra money on a repair they knew I didn`t need. I will never go back, nor speak of Hopkins in a positive manner. I did not confront them on the AC issue since i didn`t actually spend the money on the repair. Before you spend a large fortune on a repair from these guys, make sure you get a second opinion to make sure it actually needs fixing!!

I was busy and had my wife go into Hopkins to see about head gasket for our 98" Subaru Outback an was told $1500. When I went in it was into $2200. It only takes once for you to do your homework the right way next time. Shame on them, but on the other hand it was good work.
