I would not recommend this place and I`ll explain why - We have a classic car and needed some work on it. We were adamant about what our budget was - $2k. This was discussed in great detail. We never received a written estimate (I believe there are laws requiring a written estimate at any auto shop). However, we were told they could keep the work we were requesting within the $2k budget we had designated. ... view more Well, turns out our $2k budget ended up being $4500. How can this happen, you would wonder. Their excuse was, well it took more time than we expected, we had to pay two guys to do the work, and if I called you for every increase, I`d be calling every day. Yes, this is actually what they said to us. Isn`t that the businesses responsibility to call the customer to get prior approval for additional expenses beyond what we had designated in our budget? Absolutely. If they couldn`t fit all our requested repairs within our budget, it was their responsibility to communicate this to us. They fell short. They were negligent. They performed all the requested work anyway, obviously knowing they had already exceeded our designated budget, and then put us in a compromising position to pay a final bill that exceeded 100% of our agreed budget in the end, followed with lame and unprofessional excuses. So after our shock and disappointment, we pick up the car and exit to the gas station across the street to fill up with gas. What happens now? The new gas tank, that we just paid for, installed by Authentic Automotive was not even installed correctly. The gas was flowing all over the ground underneath the car at the pump. We immediately contacted the shop, who had already left to go home for the day, but in finally reaching them they had asked us to leave the car in their lot so they could repair it. So our drive from Wauwatosa to Cudahy was all for naught. After picking it up for repairs once again, repairs that were performed due to their error, they had the audacity to charge us for labor AGAIN!!!! I would never bring any car or recommend this business to anyone due to their greedy and unethical business practices. In reality, we should have sued them. And in speaking with those familiar with the law and other auto shops in the local area, we likely would have won. What if we didn`t have the additional $2k+? Then what? Always GET A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. They should have supplied us with one, but neglected to do so. Yes, this was the businesses negligence, and we were taken for a costly ride. Go elsewhere if you want to protect your pocketbook.

I would NOT recommend this business and I`ll explain why -

My husband has a classic car and needed some work on it. He took it in and was very adamant about what our budget was - $2k. This was discussed in great detail.

My Toyota broke down while driving to work, I called my wife and she suggested I call Authentic because her mom has her car worked on there. I called, they came right out, towed my car with their flatbed to their facility and had it fixed by the end of the work day and they even drove me to work! I would strongly recommend this shop to anyone as I did not have issues with the reasonable price for the work performed a... view morend the employees were pleasant.

Good Experience
Someone hit my car in a parking lot, my neighbor recommended Authentic Automotive to me as that`s where he takes his car to get body and mechanical work performed. I stopped by without an appointment and they were able to give me a free estimate and I was on my way in 10 minutes. My insurance company told me I needed another estimate so I stopped at another body shop in town and it took them forever to get it written... view more up and they missed some damage on their estimate. I decided to have Authentic repair my car and am very happy that I did. My car was repaired and finished when they said it would be, it was freshly washed and they even vacuumed out the interior! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs body work done, I am so pleased with the service that I am going to make them my mechanics too!

Very Satisfied Customer
I was involved in a car accident, my friend recommended Authentic Automotive as he always takes his cars there. I took my car there, they handled all of the insurance filing for me, I picked up my car when it was done and I could not tell it had been in an accident! The blend on the side was perfect, the car was clean and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. I was so happy with their work that when my car n... view moreeeded a tune up I brought it back and had Authentic take care of that for me too.

Duster Guy
Jim and his crew at Authentic did a frame on restoration of my 73 340 Duster and all I can say is I am beyond satisfied. Anyone that has restored a car can tell you that it is never a seamless process and things are bound to happen such as late parts etc.. It is how these situations are reacted to is what counts. No matter how busy they were when I stopped in to check on my ride I was treated like I was their numb... view moreer one customer. Not only by Jim but by his staff as well. This is not to mention how well my car turned out. I brought them a rust bucket and drove out of his shop with a real head turner. As a matter of fact a show winner several times over! Just one example, Jim`s crew painted my engine compartment. When I came to look at it I was like wow it`s red but it didn`t look like the color I picked but I figured I guess it must be. Well before the rest of the car was painted and the motor was dropped in Jim called me back down to his shop. He explained to me that he wasn`t happy with the paint job so he took the initiative to redo it. Now it was candy red! That`s what I call service!
