DO NOT GO to any Richmond area Tuffy, especially this one. They cannot be trusted. I was overcharged (by hundreds of dollars) for repairs and maintenance they said had to be performed ASAP (without much further explanation) and forced to pay for services they advertised as free. They also performed another service which made the car drive much worse than before. All this happened on the same visit. I went back ... view moreand complained, then called the office, but no one ever gave me any refund although I had been going there for years and the owner`s sister confirmed they did rip me off. She also said they would fix my car yet she rescheduled on several occasions, and then simply stopped calling me back. No explanation provided. Need more reasons? The atmosphere and customer service is horrible. It appears someone started renovations but never completed them and the staff curses, listens to inappropriate music very loudly, and has a general disrespect. As if that isn`t enough, I went somewhere else to get my car inspected and just so happened to meet someone who said he left Tuffy because they are dishonest.

Don`t Recommend

I went to Tuffy because I had recently moved to Richmond and my normal mechanic was over 100 miles away. I needed an oil change. First of all, I asked them to check the transmission fluid (the car is supposed to be on when doing this) they walked out to my car, that was off, and "checked it" saying it looked fine. As I sat waiting for my oil change to be done I overheard them talking to a woman in front of ... view moreme. She had come in for them to look at her cruise control because it had stopped working. Not only did they tell her it would cost about $200 for that to be fixed, they also told her that her struts need to be replaced and it would cost about $2000 for those. They did my oil change and came out to tell me that they got it done, but they "took a look at" my struts and they were getting worn out and needed to be replaced for about $2000. My car is a 2002 and when pushed it bounces about 1 and a half times. I told them I was just here for the oil change. The next time I had my oil changed the oil filter had to be removed with a tool because Tuffy had no hand-tighted the filter. When I took my car to my mechanic and told them about my struts they took a look at them and said they were still in very good shape. Unfortunately, it`s places like this that give mechanics a bad name. I would not recommend this Tuffy. I don`t know how the others are, but this one was a very bad experience.
