We started using Betterton & Whitlow when we moved back into the area in 2005. I would always prefer using a locally owned small business over a big box business when I can. In my experience, they have always been very honest, reasonably priced and they do quick work. I would not hesitate in recommending this business to anyone.

Good but very slow

Been here for a number of years. The place is fantastic and they do good work. The problem is that, consistently over the past few years, you can leave a car with them in the morning and they`ll not start on it until noon or later. That means you get your car stuck in the shop another day unless its a simple oil change. Lots of excuses from them, but bottom line, if you call days and weeks ahead, this really shouldn`... view moret happen if you leave your car a half hour after they open and the work take 2.5 hours to complete.

Great place to take your car

I recently took my car to Betterton and Whitlow. They were very helpful in selecting new tires for my car and they saved me a great deal of money as well. I highly recommend them for their outstanding customer service and great pricing.

The Best!!!!

My husband and I have been taking our van here for a couple years now. These guys are completely up front, honest & reasonable. The first sign of a good mechanic shop: if you see ppl bringing their vintage cars to them! As long as we live in Chesapeake, our vehicles will go to them. Also....no turn over on mechanics. All of them have been there for years. Another good sign!

Not honest service

I just moved to the Chesapeake area and my car was due for its inspection sticker. I chose this company because it had 2 good reviews over 2 years ago on a website. I was informed that my headlights didn`t pass inspection and I could either replace the headlights which would be expensive or they could polish the headlights. I was further informed that it could be done for $150 which I thought was quite high. I to... view moreld them to go ahead and give me the failure sticker, I wanted to get a second opinion. The attendant was quite annoyed and told me that if I went elsewhere I would have to pay the $16 inspection fee again. The tone of his voice indicated to me that something was wrong. I called my sister who lives in Richmond and told her that I would be willing to drive up there if she could recommend someone in her area. She made an appointment for me and I was charged $48 dollars and NO inspection fee!! No, I absolutely would not recommend this business as they felt like ""gougers"" to me.
