Reviews:
Best mechanic ever - I won`t ever use anyone else
I`ve always been treated fairly at Slaugh`s - repairs are always less expensive than I anticipate and Mike is always honest and upfront about what needs to be done (and, even better, what doesn`t need to be done!). I highly recommend this shop.

Awesome, Fast and Reliable!
I did a thorough review and research of these guys before I decided to repair my Jeep there. Mike was very upfront and honest and they did a fantastic job on the Starter Motor with a warranty on it that is solid. Will definantly use again!!

So disappointed
We have been so disappointed with Slaughs. They came highly recommended by a friend and I must agree with some that Mike is a very friendly person. It is too bad that they produce such poor workmanship.
We have been to Slaughs more than once, again because they were highly recommended and we thought our bad experiences must be a fluke.
However they are 3 for 3 in the terrible experience department.

1. It took three attempts for them to correctly fix our AC and we paid for it 2 out of 3 times. Every time we have taken the car to them we end up with more problems than we had originally.
2. They charged us for a brake job we didn`t need and then three days later we had to pay them to do the rear brakes which are the brakes they were suppose to fix the first time.
3. They did such a poor job replacing our exhaust manifold that they caused a hole in our exhaust line and now they want me to fork over another 300 bucks because they were careless.
4. oh and I forgot ; The first time they changed our oil the front plastic that wraps from the front bumper to mid car got all busted up and they tried to bumble gum it back together. When I pointed it out he acted like we was doing me a special favor to put it back together with some screws.
The excuses I get every time are ""I don?ˆ™t know... how a huge hole could have been burned in your exhaust or I don`t know how you could possibly be out of Freon so soon.
I think I know how! I can`t believe anyone would be willing to do such poor work and charge top dollar for it.
If someone told you Slaughs was a great deal, I would make sure you have a second mechanic look at your car before and after any work is done by Slaughs. They are absolute criminals.

Fabulous place!
Like many people have commented, I am a single woman who has found it hard to find people who won`t rip me off. Mike is always fair, and I trust him and I trust the work. Fantastic.

Honest and Hard Working Mechanic - Best in Salt Lake!
Mike Slaugh has been there for me through thick and thin. I can always count on him to make the right repairs and avoid the unnecessary ones.
Always kind, always courteous, the work is guaranteed. Mike absolutely won`t talk down to you or try to get you to spend money on services you don`t need. If you have a problem with some work that`s been done, just let him know and he`ll make it right.
If Mike can`t get a... view more job done for whatever reason, he will recommend another mechanic who he trusts instead of stringing you along for weeks.
I can`t believe the bad reviews I have read on this site as I have never had anything but a positive painless experience with Mike. I once told him that I appreciated his honesty and excellent customer service and he simply responded by saying ""That`s the only way we could deserve your business.""
If you need work done, Mike`s shop is the place to go. And remember, even if your car won`t start, there`s a good chance you can roll it downhill to the convenient location.

The Best
I have been to dozens of mechanics in my life. As a single woman, I have been `taken for a ride` by many of them. That all ended when I discovered Slaugh`s approximately 12 years ago. They have always exceeded my expectations with quality workmanship, fair pricing, and prompt service. A few years ago, I moved a significant distance away from Slaugh`s. Because of this, I took my car to a local mechanic. They fai... view moreled to accurately diagnose, and therefore, repair my vehicle. I took it to Slaugh`s and the problem is fixed. I learned a valuable lesson. Slaugh`s expertise is worth the drive. I`ll never go anywhere else again.

3 brakes replaced instead of 4
I failed inspection because of the handbrake and Slaugh`s told me I needed new brakes all around so $300+ later and new brakes I went back and failed inspection again. So I went back, he adjusted the handbrake again and I passed. Well driving back from Arizona I hear a terrible noise when I brake but I can`t stop in the middle of nowhere. I get home and a friend looks at the brake and it has an old brake shoe on it n... view moreot a new one. He checked all the others and they were new. SO I got 3 new brakes and a ruined rotor. The bolt for the rotor snapped off with little force - maybe this was why he didn`t change the shoe - either way I am not impressed.

Not honest, overpriced . Stay away !!!!
what I can say about Slaugh`s is they dont know how to repair properly, and not being honest with the customer. I was treated horribly and will never come back again.
Here`s my story:
my car would not start, and after some diagnostic which cost over 100 bucks (little expensive here, and they did not warn me of this diagnostic fee at the beginning), the guyz said I needed a new fuel bump.and total co... view morest for my repair was about $ 600.
But the day after I got my car back with the new fuel bump, the engine stopped working while I was driving. and it would not start again. this time I had it pulled to my mechanic friend. He told me that I got problems with electrical wires to the fuel bump, and the bump on my car model rarely failed.
So it turned out that the guyz at Slaughs fixed the wrong part; I felt like I was robbed !!!
also, somehow my temperature gauge also broke (it was good before I had my car in the shop) and I lost a locking plier.
this was my first experience with Slaugh`s and it was a total disaster. very unhappy.

Not your typical mechanic
After reading great reviews about Slaugh`s Car Care, I decided to cancel my appointment at the Honda dealership and take my car here. I`m SO glad I did. When I walked in, Mike greeted me and was friendly. He got my car in the garage immediately. I didn`t feel I was taken advantage of at all. He told me my problem was a simple fix, and he fixed it without charging me an arm and a leg! It`s obvious that Mike aims... view more to earn repeat customers, and I am happy to say that I`ve found a mechanic to trust! Give him your business - you`ll be glad you did.

Fabulous Service!
I am absolutely PHOBIC of mechanics, and this has been my best experience yet. As a woman who does not know much about cars, I have been A) talked down to and treated like I am an idiot and B) mislead and conned by mechanics in the past. Mike is extremely friendly, respectful, punctual, honest, and GREAT at what he does. I highly recommend Slaugh`s to anyone for anything!
