Reviews:
Atlas Motors Inc does not care about car buyers?ˆ™ safety!
My wife and I purchased a secondhand car (Chevrolet Cobalt 2007) from Atlas Motors Inc on the 2nd of August 2013.
According to the dealer the car had been fully inspected and was safe to drive.
Living in Elko Nevada, we drove back home on the same day from Salt Lake City (230 miles). I used the car to drive to work (8 miles per day) for 1 month and ... view morea half without any problem, then one day the car refused to start on the parking lot at work.
I had to call a tow truck that succeeds to run the car after charging the battery.
I took the car to a Chevrolet garage and ask for the battery to be checked, and replaced if required.
The garage called me back to let me know the battery had to be replaced. More importantly, they noticed the front and rear brakes were dangerously old and warned me as, according to them, the car was not safe to drive. They also indicated the serpentine belt had to be changed.
To get a second opinion, I took the car to a second garage (recommended by colleagues at work) and I told the mechanic the battery was flat and I would like a quote for a new battery plus an inspection to be made to identify other eventual defects.
This second garage came back to me with exactly the same conclusions: the brakes are so old that the car is unsafe, and the serpentine belt has to be changed.
I then get 2 quotes from both garages, and to be sure to get the best price, I asked for a third quote, telling to a third garage what would need to be replaced. All 3 quotes were in the range of $899-967, and I finally went to the cheapest.
When I picked up my car, I asked the mechanic if there is a chance this car would possibly pass an inspection with these defects being unnoticed, and the answer was a big NO.
My wife called the Atlas Motors Inc dealer to ask if an inspection had really been done on the vehicle that was sold to us. The answer was yes.
We then explained what happened to the dealer (see above), and we asked him to check with whoever is in charge of doing the vehicle inspection as there was obviously a problem.
The feedback we had was
(1) the garages we contacted took advantage of us; even if they came with similar conclusions independently?ˆ¦,
(2) the car was safe to drive,
(3) the price we paid for the repairs was far too high; meaning the three garages that gave us quotes are dishonest ?ˆ¦
The conclusion of this story is that if someone intends to buy a car from Atlas Motors Inc, he must at least take the car to do an independent vehicle inspection.
We were very disappointed by the dealer reaction that shows Atlas Motors Inc does not care at all about its customers?ˆ™ safety.
We will never recommend this company.
