Horrible Experience
This is perhaps the worst single encounter I`ve ever had in my entire life with an individual supposedly in business.
A couple weeks back, my wife`s Neon quit running at Duval and 183. Someone actually handed her these guy`s card, and I had the car towed home and called them. I was going on vacation the next day, so I made arrangements for them to come over when I got back and fix the car. The fix was fairly stra... view moreightforward; the car needed a new fuel pump. The guy--Ben--quoted me a price: $425.00, and said he`d bring the pump with him. It turned out I got home a few days early, and I called Ben and asked him if he could move up our appointment by a few days. He said he`d be out the next day, and he did indeed show up. But he came to the door about twenty minutes after he`d arrived and told me the only fuel pump for the car available in Austin was at a dealership, that it would cost $450.00, and that now my bill would be $759.00. I told him I didn`t appreciate being bait-and-switched, that I had a quote, that that was nonsense and that I expected him to find a pump, install it, and charge me the price he`d quoted. He said he would and went back into the driveway with his computer. Another twenty minutes later he came back and told me he`d located a pump in Killeen, that it would arrive about 3:30, and he`d call first and then be back in the afternoon to fix the car. (This is odd, because I went inside and called AutoZone on Parmer, who had the pump in stock for $250.00.) The afternoon came and went with no call. Finally about 7, he did call, said he had the pump but he was afraid it was too late to do the job, but he`d be by first thing in the morning. Of course first thing in the morning came and went with no call and with no arrival of Ben. I called him at 9:30 and got voicemail. At that point I found someone else to come out and fix the car. At 11:30, Ben finally did call and allow as how he`d had ""personal issues"" and ""another tech"" would come out and fix my car. No thanks.

Honest, Affordable and Reliable
I just looked up `auto mechanic` and found these guys. Seemed fair and simple on the phone, so I had them come out. Guy on the phone told me hour and a half, guy in the truck was here in and hour and a half. I thought they were going to be more expensive than a shop (seeing as I was skipping the tow) but they were surprisingly less! A loose cable was the culprit, and the guy was fair and honest. He tightened it ... view moreup, and voila! Something tells me I might have ended up buying a new starter if this was behind the doors of a shop.

Just go to a garage
I originally called them because I thought I just needed a belt replaced. $300 and a new head gasket later, I still didn`t have a running car. This took an entire day. They scheduled another mechanic to come out a couple of days later. He never showed during the original (or `rescheduled`) appointment time, and then I couldn`t get a hold of anyone on the phone to give me any answers.
I would recommend that you ... view morejust have your car towed to an actual garage. You`ll save yourself time and money.

Austin AutoMedic is the Best!!!
my technician called me before coming out to let me know he was on his way, so no guessing about when they would be here, and they came to my office during work, so i didnt have to interrupt my work day. it was great and quick!! so easy to work with and they told me the price over the phone, so no guessing!
