Honest Democratic Mechanic

It seems absurd to put a headline like this on a review for an auto mechanic, but the tone of the negative reviews on here lead me to believe that epistemic closure has come to citysearch. I doubt that many, if any of them has even done business with Yost Automotive, or if some semblance of what they describe actually happened, talked directly with Michael to try and resolve the situation. Michael`s been the #1 mec... view morehanic for me and my family for years. He even worked on our broken-down old Fords for us before we took his advice and bought cars that need much less service. He`s an honest man and mechanic, and hires good, honest mechanics to work for him. Michael`s not bashful about his political leanings, and the last time I was in his shop there were a few stickers on the wall that might have put off a neo-con or teabagger. You`ll often hear KUT playing when you visit his shop. This alone sets him apart from 99% of the others who force you to listen to hate talk while you`re waiting to get your car serviced. I`m absolutely certain that Michael is just as fair to anybody that might not agree with him politically. I`m not so sure that the negative reviewers on here could say the same.

Big Mike & Little Mike

Mike Youst is the honest Automotive business in Austin. These people that are putting the hammer on him did not give him a chance to correct the problems they think they still have. Ive been doing business with Mike for about 4 yrs. now and will certainly go back. If Youst Automotive does work on your car and you are not happy get with Mike and let him know your concerns. Great Shop

I honestly have no idea what a lot of the people on here are talking about, and not just because they have terrible grammar. These guys are great and have always done nothing but quality, affordable work for me. I know a decent bit about cars, but every time I can`t figure something out or don`t have the time to fix it myself, I always take my car to Yost. I`ve been taking my cars to him and the guys for years and ha... view moreve never once had a bad experience which says A LOT for a mechanic shop! I read most of the reviews on here just for fun and it seems like most of these people know absolutely nothing about automotive repair. The `sell your info` guy is just plum crazy, and I`m pretty sure one of those is a guy that works next store to Yost, at Groovy. The only downside to this shop is the parking is sometimes not so good because they have so much business! Those poor guys next store at groovy seem to have no business at all, but I guess reputation precedes them both! I don`t really care what the other reviews on here say, I will definitely continue to take my car to these guys for as long as I can!

The day I took my car in I got a call from a State Farm agent to my cell phone! I had never gotten a sales call on that phone and never heard from State Farm before that day! If you value your privacy, don`t take your car there!

This shop finds more and more things to break! I would be taking my car back to them for the third time but I`d rather have another shop fix their mistakes. DO NOT GET TRAPPED IN THIS MONEY PIT LIKE I DID!

The F Troop of Auto Shops

I heard good things about this place so I dropped my car off. Later in the week, after their ""repair"", the car wouldn`t even start! They ended up charging ME to repair the stuff they broke the first time! Sure enough, after picking up the car the SECOND time, I can tell it`s got new problems. The stick shift is shaking now and making noise, and the idle is messed up.

CRIMINAL: A total ripoff.

I wish I could give this awful place zero stars but Web 2.0 won`t let me. Wow, let me catch my breath here because I just got totally screwed by this hellhole. I took the car in for brakes, pads, and A/C. The A/C blew hot air, so it was either a hose, freon, etc. The next day I pick it up, and later that evening I notice the battery light on and the E-Brake light faintly on. Odd, and it HAD to have been becaus... view moree of them. I had never had a problem with my battery or alternator, and this happens the very day that they worked on my car?! I take the car back when I have a chance and immediately they`re defensive about it and feeding me all kinds of BS lines. It`s obvious they`ve made these kinds of mistakes before. No matter what I say or do, I`m screwed. They bilk me for another $500 to replace the battery and alternator that they broke when troubleshooting my A/C, the last $500 to my name. I took my car in for a few simple repairs and ended up really paying the price for it. The shop looks like garbage and that`s how you`ll be treated. If you`re gonna go there, make sure to take some lube with you because you`re gonna get reamed.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!

We took our car to Yost in April to get a new water cooled alternator replaced. In order to replace the alternator in our car you need to also work with the cooling system. We took the car back to Yost 6 times!! When we got it home the first time, the bleeder screw was broken so the shroud was completely loose and bouncing around, the coolant light was on, and it was leaking coolant. Took it back 5 MORE TIMES bef... view moreore we decided this shop is completely and totally incompetent and could NOT resolve the issue. He actually tried to glue the expansion tank to the shroud ?ˆ“ o yeah, that worked out really great!! We have since learned that the radiator shroud was also cracked in 2 places, so we replaced that ourselves and are still trouble shooting to fix our car. It is now June and our coolant light is still on and the car leaks coolant, so we are taking it back to the dealer. Not only does this shop do below average work but the front desk help leaves much to be desired.
