Total rip-off. My transmission was old and slipping badly, so I paid for a complete transmission rebuild. I called after a week and a half of dropping off the car; and the owner told me they hadn`t even looked at it! I called back a week after that, and she gave the me same story, then copped an attitude about how if I didn`t like it I should take it somewhere else. I told her that was fine and I wanted my money back... view more, to which she said, "No refunds." That`s right, she wanted to keep my $2,000 I already paid without even looking at the car. I had no choice but to leave the car there. It didn`t get "Fixed" until over a month after I dropped it off.
When I got it back the owners left oil and grease stains all over the interior and exterior of my car. The interior smelled badly of cigarette smoke. My jack and tire wrench were missing. They even stole the change from my console!
That`s hardly the worst part, tough. A month after I dropped it off it started slipping again! I took it to a better shop and they told me only one of the gears in the transmission was replaced, even though I paid for a full rebuild. I called the manager on the phone to speak with the about it and she hung up on me! When I went to her office to discuss this in person, her response was, "Sue me." I`m trying to do just that, but now she keeps her office doors locked and screens the entrants in order to avoid being served her court papers. Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. You WILL be horribly ripped off by these crooks.

Total thiefs!!! Took it there at first
Total thiefs!!! Took it there at first the owner charged me 250 to fix the transmission, after the 4th day it was failing again!! Took it back and he said something else was wrong and know he wants to charge us $1000.00 plus he charges a 4% fee if you pay with credit card which by the way is illegal!!! Never go there if you want a good decent job!!!

Stay away Steven Nahnsen and rose Hernandez (the owners should be in jail) I took my car a Mazda Miata for repairs i originally spoke with Steve and he told me that the work that my car needed was minor and that it would only take him 2 day to fix it. well 2 days turned into almost 2 month`s so i finelly called and told him i needed to pick up my car...he told me that it still wan not running and that the bill was 51... view more6.00....i had to pay to get my car towed to a real mechanic at Spitfire on commerce st. and they had my car running in 2 days and they also told me that there was no evedence that anywork had been started on my car. I strongly believe that Steven Nahnsen and rose Hernandez are con-artist and should be sent to jail.

Star Transmission is a total rip-off!!!!
I recently moved to San Antonio and when my car needed work i took it to Star Transmission. I only lived a few blocks biggest mistake of my life. I originally spoke with the owner of the place ( Steve) and he assured me that the work was minor and that my car would be out in 2 days. as the days went by i kept visiting to see what was taking so long and the owner steve would always assure me that the car was getting ... view morefixed...long story short they kept my car for almost 2 months they charged me 516.00 and i still had to pay a tow truck to come pick up my car. I took my car to spitfire on commerce st. and they had my car running the next day and the mechanic there said that no work had been done on my car.
do yourself a favor and do not go to Star Transmission on 4702 San Pedro Ave. They are a total rip-off....

Horrible Service
My transmission went out on a Sunday and I called around. Star`s owner returned my call on Sunday and sounded very helpful and asked me to bring my truck in first thing Monday morning.
My Tahoe ran very smooth before I took it in for the transmission, I maintain my truck very well. I was quoted about $1300 for the transmission overhaul which I thought was a great price.
Well like the saying goes ""You... view more get what you pay for"" I now have a truck that takes about five tries before it starts, and has a bad oil leak. I took it in and the owner said my truck needed sensors which were going to cost another $800 with labor and said said that the truck was already leaking. I have designated parking at my job and I never noticed one drop of oil on my parking spot. After Star`s horrible service, my parking spot has the ugliest oil stains on it.
I took it to a couple of other places to get a couple of more opinions and was told by both places that the transmission overhaul was incomplete and the leak was due to a missing gasket fitting that goes from the transmission to the motor which is causing all the sensors to go off.
I will never take my truck there again and will not refer Star Transmission to anyone else!!!
