Hard to Recommend

My wife called Christian Bros Auto in McKinney and said the lights on our vehicle came on but it was clicking and not turning over. They obliged to pick up the vehicle and tow it to the repair shop. Later that day I call my wife to ask if there was a diagnosis and she informs me that it was just a bad battery...whew. I`m thinking we are getting off cheap here, great. I asked her what the cost to replace and install t... view morehe battery would be and she said they didn`t tell her. Instantly I call the repair shop and I am told they have completed the work and the total with tow $328.00. Now I have known two people not including myself that have been taken by this particular repair facility. Let`s just say grossly and excessively. Instantly I realize that this is abnormally high for a max 30 minute job. Really, does anyone believe this would run this amount or see a plausible explanation? The guy on the phone gives me the whole we had to really clean the the cable connectors and run a diagnosis which was $45 alone. Earlier they told my wife the had to replace the cable connectors.Seriously has anyone gone to Auto Zone to have a free diagnostic check? This computer plugs in beneath the steering column and gives a diagnosis which takes about three minutes to run. I might even be stretching the timeframe on this. I had one recently and it was done in about a minute. Furthermore you can look at the battery posts and if there is discharge abundant even a non-savvy car owner can see it`s probably the battery or the connectors need a wire brush scrubbing might correct the problem by simply removing the corrosion deposits. He proceeds to inform me that they replaced the battery at mind boggling $145. I asked if this included labor and the reply was ""no"" we charged $25 to install the battery in addition here. Wallah there you go! I looked online and can`t find a battery for a 2005 Pacifica that runs $145, actually 1/2 the amount quoted was a high end battery at Sears, Walmart, and Firestone. That`s 100% markup. The sheer fact that they wouldn`t disclose the amount of the repair cost upfront is a big red flag in my book, and unappreciated. I`m sure there aren`t many people that have spent $328 to have a battery replaced understanding a tow charge is ""what it is"". I won`t recommend Christian Bros. of McKinney. I paid it, but I`ll just say don`t take them at their word. Do your own research, and be cautious. I wouldn`t paint all of their repair facilities, but like I said I won`t call their McKinney site. It just doesn`t sit well with me.
