Not impressed at all
My regular mechanic told me the differential was leaking on my 1989 Mustang LX 5.0, and recommended that I take it to Austin Drive Train to be rebuilt. I called ADT a couple of weeks in advance to make an appointment. When I made the appointment, I was told over the phone that the car would be in and out in one day. I asked if I needed to prepay for any parts which might need to be ordered and I was told that they ha... view mored everything they needed in stock.
I brought them the car on Thursday December 27th. I double checked that it would be out the same day and Marvin, the service manager said ""well, we`ll tear it apart and see what it needs and how long it will take."" He called me a couple of hours later and told me that the axles were worn out and needed to be replaced (at an additional $300 charge). He also told me that they didn`t have the parts they needed after all (remember I asked about prepaying). He assured me that the parts would be there the next morning (Friday). Naturally, they weren`t. So my car was in the shop over the weekend, which is a HUGE inconvenience.
Monday the 31st the parts came in. I got the car at around closing time. The instant I got on the road, a horrible screech came out of the differential. There is NO WAY they test drove my car. To make matters worse, they were gone and I was stuck with a car I couldn`t drive.
I had to rent a car to go to Dallas on business the 3rd through the 5th. That`s more money out of pocket. The car was still not ready the 5th so I was without a car for a second weekend.
Finally, the next Monday, January the 7th, I got my car back. They said there was still a noise that they couldn`t track down, but they were ""pretty sure"" it was not coming from the differential.
Just to top it off, Marvin told me that they had broken the head off of one of the bolts holding the cover plate on the differential, and they couldn`t find the drill they needed to drill it out and replace it. He told me to bring it back later.
