Classyand professional
I brought my 1975 K5 Blazer in. This is a total project. Just trying to get it ready for hunting season. My vehicle needed a lot more than I wanted to spend. Jason and his guys went out of there way to get me cheap parts for my Blazer (used junk yard). It was there for a little more than a week, they repaired my steering, brakes, tranny slipping and finally his guy fixed my passenger door latch. I feel as if I should o... view morewe them more. Kudos Jason keep it up. Glad to see the new mechanics very professional.

Honest Great work...will go again
I have to agree with majority of reviews. These guys treated me like family. A lot of the shops try to lie and take advantge of women, Jason was upfront and honest about everything, and I appreciate that.

My car overheated after dropping my son off at school so I took it in to HK. My son had a game later that day and Jason (owner) said to me ""we will get it taken care of by then dont worry""

He is a ma... view moren of his word and I was able to take my son and 3 of his team mates to the game. He also fixed issue with minimal cost to me.

HK has a customer for life. Thanks Jason

Best Around
Jason & his Crew at HK are the best around. They are fair, honest and most of all, are great at what they do. HK is my go to shop. My friends and co-workers go there too. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing great automotive service at a honest price. Thanks HK!

SAVED ME A LOT OF MONEY! APPRECIATES CUSTOMERS
Recently my 2005 Corvette started driving funny. I drove it to a shop nearby my home( so i didnt stress engine more), the guy called me 30 min later with dreaded news and said it was going to cost around $2800 to fix engine issue.(claimed heads needed replacing) I was suspicious so I had it towed to HK. I have been taking my 2 vehicles to HK for over 2 years now. Jason has always been honest from day 1 that is why I ... view moredrive across town to get there.

Jason was able to save my Corvette from having unecessary engine work done that the other dishonest mechanic recommended. It ended up being a minor issue that was identified by one of his mechanics..Totaling $238 parts and labor...SAVED ME $2562!

Best of all Jason and his mechanics treat you like a valued customer not like some wallet who just walked in, the other shop tried to rip me off and had no shame in doing so. HK saved my Corvette (and wallet) and I am sure they will treat you and your car the same as they did mine.Check em out..you`ll be glad you did

Very honest and friendly. Do not go anywhere else. Trust me. I have been going there for over 2 years

RESPONSE FROM OWNER
I`m Jason and I am proud to say that I own HK Auto Service. First, thanks Andy for the positive review, I hope we can keep earning them from you. I would like to respond to the two recent negative comments posted.

1st complaint - owner drove my car and left a starbucks receipt along with no gas and I had half a tank when I came in, to make it up to me the owner said he would replace my windshield and it stil... view morel has not been done.

This customer brought in a PT Cruiser with a check engine light on had a list of about 10 items to look at, one being a rubbing noise under the vehicle while driving. After repairs she also wanted an inspection. When you repair a vehicle and reset the computer the vehicle has to be driven 30 - 50 miles before the readiness tests are complete to get the vehicle inspected. She was a friend of my next door neighbors and was out of town for 10 days so as I told her I did drive her vehicle the needed amount to get the job done, she had no complaints about the job but was upset about gas and a starbucks receipt so I offered to replace her cracked windshield to make up for it. We replaced her windshield but still got drilled with the negative review. Her husband was a very nice guy, but this customer was very negative from the beginning, I should have not tried to go out of my way to get it inspected and just replaced the timing belt and fixed the check engine and sent her on her way to drive the vehicle herself. Learning lesson for me. This customer had no idea what readiness tests were or why test driving was needed, I should have explained things to her when she dropped it off again my fault.

2nd Complaint - Honda Prelude, I appreciate the fact that you waited until your warranty expired to write the review, you are acknowledging the fact that we stand behind our warranty and I appreciate that, as we do. But I take real offense at this customer`s negative feed back because it is made up. It is obvious you went through and read any negative review and tried to say the same thing. This customer brought in a Prelude to rebuild the transmission even though is shifted perfectly, his complaint was that it didn`t shift like it did when he first purchased it. Here again learning lesson for me, I should have known how tough of a customer to please he would be from the beginning, even my builder didn`t want to touch it and said there was nothing technically wrong with it. I told the customer this but did say we could rebuild it and install a shift kit that would make it a firmer shift and he was all for it. This customer without calling dropped his car off for warranty work and not only forgot to call us and tell us what we were looking at but also didn`t tell us where he stashed the key! We have a drop box on the front door and it was not in there. So yes it did sit for 8 days, we had no key and no call from you until day 7. As far as the gas goes, if you come in with no gas you will typically leave with no gas.

I probably shouldn`t have even responded to these negative reviews because a war of words is not what I want. But I am proud of our positive reviews and it seems like we got a couple of recent negatives reviews from people that are just negative in general. I understand that you can not win them all and when a customer walks out with a positive experience they typically still don`t leave a review while a negative experience is much more likely to cause a negative review.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate all of our great customers.

Honest and saved me money1
This was the first time that I have taken my Honda Element away from the dealership for service. I was recently at Round Rock Honda and was given a $1,400 estimate for what I consider maintenance items and my Element only has 80K miles, needless to say it was time to look around. I was directed to HK Auto by one of my neighbors and I was really impressed. The dealer was suggesting items only due to miles. HK`s me... view morechanic actually looked at the items to tell me if they were needed or not. I`m not into replacing parts just because they have been on my car for a while unless it is going to hurt something. They got me in and out the same day, they provided a free estimate so looking it over and quoted me costed nothing, and they saved me about $900. I am taking my wife`s car in Friday for new struts, if they do another good job for me I will report back. So far they have earned a 5 star rating in my book.

avoid. avoidavoidavoid!
Read some reviews here, and on craigslist. Thought I would give it a try for a transmission rebuild. This has been my experience in the last year. I, like another feedback provider, dropped my car of with 3/4 a tank of gas. The rebuild took 12 days. my gas light was on when I picked it up. So SOMEBODY drove the vehicle for at least 250 miles on my gas. The price was reasonable, the 12 days was a stretch. AND HK ... view morestole my gasoline. About 2 months later, the transmission started leaking, and was not shifting right. Brought it in for repairs. Only took 8 days to repair the vehicle. 2 months later...more transmission leaks, and not shifting right. Back to HK auto, for them to take a week to complete warranty work. Car is sitting in the lot, and the rear was sideswiped while in HK`s posession. The owner, Jason, offered to pay my deductible. It never happened. Had to pay my own deductible, and my own insurance paid while HK denied responsibility to my insurance company. August...transmission leaks again. Not shifting right again. This time it took 13 days to complete the repairs. Observed employees drinking beer while working on cars. The owner would avoid my calls by way of caller ID. I call on another phoneline and he answers it right away, no voicemail. Its obvious that the owner was avoiding me. This place caused me so much hassle...I was afraid to post feedback prior to my warranty expiring, that they would deny repairs as retaliation. Please, for your own hard earned money, for your sanity, for your repeated downtime on repeated shoddy repairs...please avoid this shop. OH!! and dont drop your keys in the dropbox. It doesnt lock. Any joker, or a drunk employee could steal your keys, or even your whole car! C- review by Better Business Bureau, too.

EXCELLENT WORK...FAST, GREAT PRICE, PROFESSIONAL

I recently moved to Austin and was afraid It was going to be hard to find a mechanic I could trust. I took one of my cars in to get an alternator replaced after reading positive reviews here I figured I would give it a shot.

It was a great experience. Jason (owner) is honest and the price was significantly less than other shops after other shops wanted battery replaced (before even seeing my car) . That w... view moreas 6 months ago. Since then I have brought my luxury vehicle here for routine maintenance instead of the dealership. My cars run great, I know I now have a mechanic I can trust who won`t screw me on pricing like dealer and other shops I called. Finally an honest mechanic.

100% recommended, see for yourself. Employees are great mechanics who know their stuff.

Great Mechanic Shop
The owner Jason is very honest about what your car needs, could use, or just flat out doesn`t need, I will never take my car any other shop. I appreciate the fact that the owner personally went ouit and drove my car to listen for the noise my car was making as well.

Owner used my Car for his personal use
My best friend referred me to this auto shop because a coworker of hers was the owners neighbor. I left my car for a week while I was out of town to be repaired. The repairs on my car weren`t done until the day I returned home, and the car wasn`t even checked after the repairs were completed!

I had left my car with a half tank of gas and when I got it back it was on empty and had a whole new problem with it ... view morewhere it was shuddering like it was threatening to stall out. The next day I found a Starbucks receipt dated during the time I was out of town, and a bag from Charming Charlie`s left in my car! When I called to complain, Jason, THE OWNER admitted to driving my car while it was with him! He admitted to picking up his wife and taking her shopping, then driving down south to run an errand and back to the shop. However, I was also informed that my car was seen parked at the owners house while I was gone.

So even though the work may be cheap, do you really want to let the owner use your car for his own private use? Do you really want your insurance premiums to sky rocket if he wrecks your car while in his care? Do you want to be held responsible for traffic tickets? Do you really want to let this immoral and unprofessional business anywhere near your car?

Also, when I made a fuss about this unprofessional behavior, they offered to pay to replace my windshield for me in compensation...Two weeks and 5 phone calls later...I`m still waiting for my windshield to get fixed.
