We bought a 7 passanger van with our income tax return, because it was what we could afford and we needed the seats for our child on the way. We found the van posted online. It was cheaper than quoted which was good. We test drove it, and it seemed to drive fine. The tires were pretty worn, but that w... view moreas ok we were willing to replace them. When we asked about a carfax report...They ""tried"" to get us a copy, but somehow their office AND the office off of Blanco never could ""find"" it. So buying the car without looking at the carfax report is OUR fault.
We took the car the next day to get tires while we could afford it...when we went to pick up our car, they informed us they couldn`t do an alignment because a tire rod was cracked and the barrings were wearing out and needed to be replaced before an alignment could be done. They gave us an estimation of $1000. We couldn`t afford that. They also informed us that they couldn`t flush the radiator because the engine was leaking emission fluids. They couldn`t give us an estimation on that...we will have to find someone who can, but it`s another costly problem that we can not fix.
Overall...they were at fault for not getting us the carfax on the car we purchased, and we were at fault for trusting them because it was all we could afford. We shouldn`t have bought the car without looking at the carfax, because a car you can afford at the lot but can`t drive because you can`t afford the repairs is no good at all.
Warning, if they are reluctant to give you the carfax on a car, it probably isn`t worth buying.
