Bad car check
I took a truck I wanted to buy to these guys for a buyer`s check. They did it, and said I only needed to get a few things done, it was a good buy for the price, etc. So, I bought the truck.
Come to find out, only a year later, the transmission is nearly shot. The rotors are almost at their end, the pads are gone. The electrical system is funky. I need a new muffler and tailpipe. And probably other things will... view more arise, as I`m having a new buyer`s check done to see if I can afford to keep this piece of junk.
I loved Groovy, thought I could trust them (that`s why I went there), but now I just can`t.

GREAT, honest service on a budget!
I had an outstanding experience with Groovy. Brought in a Mercedes and Steve, the Manager provided me with a quick quote, ordered the necessary parts off the internet cheap, and had it done a few days labor. The work was outstanding, the work honest and true to their word, all he charged me for was the labor...which is a standard, very fair price. I`ll be back to Groovy and encourage everyone I know to go there. ... view moreThey make their money off of volume, not overcharging, and I wouldn`t take my SUV anywhere else. Thanks Groovy!

Kings of the unnecessary upsell
I`ve taken my truck exclusively to Groovy Lube and Groovy Automotive for 5 years. I chose them because they are a locally owned, independent business and I felt I could trust them for that reason.
After a couple years of oil changes with them, I noticed that at every oil change, they suggested something extra that ""needed"" to be done. I got suspicious when it was a different ""need"" at every oil change, and... view more usually the ""need"" from last time was never brought up again. I had a coupon for cheap oil changes from them, so kept returning but also started keeping a spreadsheet of what work they had done, and when.
I let them change my fuel filter in January (at their suggestion, of course). A couple weeks ago, I had the truck in for something else, and Art said ""the only other thing I see is that your fuel filter is in terrible shape, all rusted out."" I didn`t have my spreadsheet in front of me, and didn`t remember having it changed in January, so authorized the repair. I realized my mistake when I got home to the spreadsheet, so called off the repair. Art said, ""oh, you had the fuel filter changed at Groovy Lube (not Groovy Automotive), that`s why I didn`t see it in the records."" This was proof that NO ONE ACTUALLY LOOKED AT MY FUEL FILTER BEFORE TELLING ME IT WAS RUSTED OUT! When I came in to pick up my truck, he had a really lame excuse as to why he suggested replacing a brand new part.
It gets better, though. The next week, I took up Firestone on their offer to do a free brake check. I walked out with a $1200 list of things that supposedly needed to be repaired, including repacking the front wheel bearings, which Groovy had done recently. Interesting. Not knowing who to believe, I talked Groovy into doing a free brake check also. They had a whole different list of things that needed to be repaired that didn`t include the bearings, fortunately for them. (Also beware of Firestone on Airport!) But, here`s the kicker--Art tells me the only other thing he sees is that my fuel filter is in really bad shape! I guess the fuel filter is their standard upsell that they`ll try to get every customer on.
In a final ironic note, Groovy had some sweet girl call to ask about my experience with the repairs I`d had done. I gave her an earful. She had the manager call me, and I missed the call, but called him back and left a call-back number. He never called back.

Not recommended
Took a car to them for a mechanic check before buying. They did a hour`s job and gave a clean chit for the car with a big report on the good things. I went ahead and bought the car. Few days later one of my friend happened to see the transmission oil quality and said to change it soon as it was black in color. I immediately took it to a dealer to look at it and he told that it was time to change it. Now I started dou... view morebting Groovy`s report. How could they give such a good report if they could`nt even check the transmission oil quality? I thought may be he found the other things right and I wont have problems anymore. No I was wrong. I had to get many things repaired now, gas pedal sticking, tire feathering problems, etc, etc. The check that I did at Groovy was not worth it at all. Don`t go to them for your automotive jobs and find a better place.

Thank You Groovy Auto
I took my car in to Groovy Auto on North Larmar the other day. I wasn`t sure what to expect becuase I have had bad experiences in the past with other Automotive shops. A friend of mine recomended Groovy to me. I showed up needing my A/C checked out along with an expection. The managers there were very nice and helpfull and being patient with me because when it comes to automotive things I can be a little frustrating.... view more In all, It took a few hours for the inspection and to fix the A/C. They were very curdious and understanding. My A/C works perfect now and my car is running great. I had a wonderful experience working with groovy and Im happy to say I found the automotive shop were I will be going for a long time. I recomend Groovy Automotive to anyone and everyone. They will treat you right.

shop willing to resolve issues
I got my A/c repaired with them. My I had to take it back 3 times. it was frustrating, but in the end, they were willing to work with me. I believed the problem was a communication issue: they see lots of cars so they aren`t going to remember everysingle job. It is important to remind them what you did that way they don`t charge your more than necessary. The A/C works so far. It was really nice that they promised to ... view morecheck on it again to make sure there were no leaks. I give them 4 stars for being honest in this issue. This is a postive business.
best of luck.
