Great service and cost effective
-I have been taking my 2004 Hyunday Accent to Carters, since 2009 with no regrets! They have rebuilt the transmission, and it still going strong for the last 80K miles. If anything needs to be done on my car I fully trust them with their knowledge and integrity! - A little bit more then a month ago (2/23/12), my car was making a terrible noise, and I took it to them worried that it would the transmission again! Fort... view moreunately, it was not the problem, but the Differential Assembly! They fixed the problem, and as courtesy, next day, I received a phone call to make sure if the car was running ok! I believe, not many places will do the same! It is been 3K miles since, and my old Accent with more than 186K miles of driving is going strong!

Austin`s Best AC Specialist!!!
Repaired the AC on my 2003 Chevy Suburban in one morning! Very nice, extremely knowledgeable, and fast. AC works excellent and charges were totally reasonable! Will refer to anyone, friends and family, for anything!

Best mechanic experience ever!
The A/C of my family`s 2008 CRV stopped working recently. I checked the fuses and relays in the diagrams that Honda makes available trying to troubleshoot the problem but had no luck. As I begun the painful search for a repair shop, I read plenty of reviews and thought I`d try my luck at Carter`s. The reviews were encouraging and the free A/C diagnostic was a definite plus. It took 30 minutes for them to find th... view moree problem; a faulty part that was not included in Honda`s diagrams as being part of the electrical system for the A/C. They showed me the problem and told me how to fix it with out charging me! The shop`s owner said ""this is something you can do yourself"". The question is not if I will be back at Carter`s, but, when! It really does not matter when but I will have some peace of mind knowing that I am taking my car to a mechanic I can trust. Such an AMAZING experience!
I bought a new car and shortly after, the transmission went out. I know absolutely nothing about transmission repair, and was scared to death about getting taken advantage of. I needed to find someone that would understand my concerns, as well as my financial limits. I walked into Jay`s office on S. Honest & Great Service
I took my Honda Accord in to get Transmission work done. It needed a complete overhaul plus new mounts, which is a very time consuming process. I spoke with Ken over the phone (who was very helpful) and when I took it in, we discussed what needed to be done. I needed my car before the weekend, so for them, it was record time to have the repairs done. Ken was extremely nice and very helpful in working with my mom (who... view more lives out of state) and I about the repairs & explaining everything to us and also answering all questions. He called today to say the car was ready for pick up and asked me to go back in- in about 2 weeks just to make sure everything was tight and secure and there were no leaks.

All in all, this place is great. Ken is a great, honest man who is not out to get you or take advantage of you. Just trying to get your car functioning and back on the road. You can`t find better customer service like this in town!! I will be recommending him to all my friends, should they need any work done on their cars!

Nice to find Honest Mechanic
North Austin location, Kevin is great.

I`m very skeptical when it comes to car repairs. My brother is a mechanic (lives too far away) and I run my repair issues by him before I take my car in. I called 4 repair shops and Carter`s was the only one that correctly diagnosed over the phone, and the only one that was willing to physically diagnose problem without a charge. Exceptional Service
Last May I took my Lexus GS300 to Carters to repair an air conditioner condensate leak that was ruining my driver side carpet. They worked all day and charged me about $850. Unfortunately, the leak was not fixed and after taking it back twice more over the next few weeks, I left Austin to spend the summer in the Colorado mountains where a/c is not needed. This May I returned to Carters and met their new manager... view more, Ken James. He was very helpful and used the Internet to learn what others had done to solve the problem (a Lexus design flaw). He and his mechanic subsequently designed and built a tray to catch and redirect the water. They spent the better part of two days and would not accept any payment for their work. Excellent service for a very difficult problem.

Honest Service
Very helpful, and they make sure to explain full problem to you. Don`t make you feel like you have to fix a lot of other things like other places do. Fix you need fixed, will mention other issues they note and leave the decision making up to you. Quick, and helpful.

These guys are great!
I have been to Carters before, so they were the first place I thought of when I needed help with my car. There was a terrible rattle coming out of the trunk lid, and I searched all over and could not find what was causing the rattle. I had visions of having to spend a LOT of money to get it fixed.
