I took my Mustang in for a bre...
I took my Mustang in for a break job and they did it at a fair price. Soon after, I started getting a vibration so I took it back. They said it was a tire problem. I took the car to the tire shop and they said the tires were fine. After a month of back-and-forth I took the car to the Ford Service Center. Their service department said the brakes were shot. So, my father-in-law and I put on new pads and rotors and all ... view moreis well.
During the same time frame, my wife`s Altima need a new catalytic converter so I took it to Robert`s as well (I had yet to figure out they had messed up my break job). They repaired it for about $1000. Fifteen months later, the Altima`s "check-engine" light comes on. We take it to the dealer and they point out all kinds of things Roberts did wrong that has caused the exhaust system to fail. Robert`s failed to properly install the part (was supposed to be a floating attachment, Robert`s did a fixed attachment), the Oxygen sensor was bent, and there were no heat shields installed as there should have been.
I have contacted Robert`s through the BBB and they agree to my initial request for compensation for the catalytic converter IF I supplied the core. Anyone who works in this industry knows that when a part is repaired, the core is sent back. That is what Nissan did...if they did not I would have been charged a core fee. The Nissan Service manager offered to speak to Robert`s and explain what they did wrong but Robert`s has declined to go that route.
In a nutshell: two different cars, two different repairs. Both had to be redone. The redo of the breaks cost $250 and the Altima repair cost another $1500.
