Watch What You Say
I`ve had service at this dealer many times. When I would get my vehicle back I get a list of recommended service such as leaking front seal, bushings worn, etc totaling hundreds of dollars to fix these items. Having heard of scams like this I never paid much attention to their warnings as I always checked out their recommendations and found the issues were insignificant. For example, the ""leaking front seal"" was... view more no worse after 75,000 additional miles.
But beware of suggesting a problem when you bring your vehicle in for service. My vehicle developed a shudder when accelerating after making a turn. When I took the vehicle in for service I described the problem and just made a commented that it seemed like the transmission.
Five days and $1800 later my transmission was rebuilt. Within 5 miles of leaving the shop and round a turn the van shuddered. I returned to Alexander and the next day was told that I had a bad plug wire. Investigating I found that is standard operating procedure to look engine performance issues etc prior to rebuilding a transmission.
I complained about their failure to properly diagnose the problem and escalated my complaint up through Ford and to Alexander himself. Ford ""has no control over their dealers"" because they are independent and were not helpful in the least. Alexander wrote me a letter refusing to make any adjustments because I had ""not properly serviced"" my van since I declined their bogus service recommendations and I had ""indicated to the service writer that the problem was in the transmission"".
If you take your car to their service department plead ignorance as to the problem you are experiencing and let them figure it out. Also accept all their suggestions for bogus repairs for hundreds of dollars because if you ever have a problem they will turn their back on you in a heartbeat.
My best recommendation is to avoid their service department altogether.
