Gorilla Muffer will rob you
I had bought a replacement catalytic converter from and brought the replacement to this place to have installed. Not Bad price , $100. After the repair, I asked for the old one back so I could recyle the old for scrap money. These thing are worth +/- $120 in scrap. They refused to give it back citing against the law. Something didn`t add up. I wasn`t able to find the law. After calling back to ask for when I got hom... view moree, they told me the same deal. If one were buy if from them than they apply a core refund for the old one. Since I didn`t I wasn`t entitled to one according to company policy. I`m calling the EPA to complain. Do not go to this place period.

deceptive on warranty - beware!
Gorilla`s owner refused to honor his warranty on a catalytic converter I got from him earlier in 2008.

In March 2008, my car became undrivable. The mechanic I was working with couldn`t do the catalytic converter installation, so we took the car to Gorilla`s for that part of the repair. The *only* thing the owner told me orally when I signed the paperwork and picked up my car was that I needed to keep it regul... view morearly tuned up in the future, else the warranty would be void.

In early September, my car conked out while I was traveling to a family funeral. I had it towed to a nearby shop. They got the car to drivable condition but told me that I would need to replace the catalytic converter again!

When I got back to Nashville, I took the car to Gorilla`s. The first mechanic I talked to examined the car and paperwork, and told me it looked like everything was in order, but I`d have to see the boss when he got back the next week. On Thursday 9/18 I returned to Gorilla`s and did finally see the owner. His position was that because I did not have the O2 sensors replaced in March, I had voided my warranty.

I tried to tell him that he did not SAY that to me about the O2 sensors. If he had TOLD me that then, I would have certainly done so. But instead of listening to me, he became belligerent.

Gorilla`s warranty document does state that the O2 sensor should be replaced, but

(1) the owner did not TELL me that at the time.
(2) the mechanic I used in March also does not remember him telling us that.
(3) another repair shop has looked at the car and confirmed that my sensors are working, and that mechanic insists that a sensor replacement was not necessary in March.

Even if the written document holds sway, the owner`s actions are deceptive. By omitting SAYING this crucial piece of information, his customers are likely to void their warranties. They would have to pay careful attention to the written document to find out about this ""necessary"" repair.
