Great Work and Honest

My 2000 Nissan Maxima`s transmission started losing power and down shifting while driving. It was sporadic and I thought related to the heat and amount of driving I do. The car also has 200k miles on it. I was recommended to Phil`s Transmission and told he was honest and up front. I had been told by other mechanics that my transmission would most likely need replaced. Phil did some diagnostics on it and test drove th... view moree car and could not find a problem other than a ""check engine"" code stating the Transmission Output Speed Sensor failed. But when he tested the sensor it was fine and the car shifted fine so he told me up front that it would only be an educated guess but he thought about just changing out the sensor and see what happened. It was a $150 sensor plus labor and diagnostic charges. I told him to give it a try knowing I could be out that money but hopefully not need to put in a $4k or $5k rebuilt transmission. It worked great and I have not had a problem again with a month of driving the car 100 miles a day. I drive 50 miles each way to work. Highly recommend Phil he could have told me I needed a new transmission but he didn`t.

Absolutely Wonderful!

I have heard so many horror stories about the cost of having a transmission rebuilt/repaired. I was honestly dreading having my car towed to Phil?s Transmission. However, I made my decision to take my business to Phil?s from the countless recommendations I heard from others that I know personally. Like the previous reviewer wrote, Phil just laid out my options and let me decide. Phil even told me (considering the age of my vehicle) what he would do. And I know for certain it was not the decision that would have been the most profitable for Phil. In the present economy no one really has a significant amount of extra cash lying around, and I especially do not. I was very lucky that Phil was able to fix my vehicle (at a very reasonable price) and I was able to pay my mortgage this month. I am truly glad there are still honest business owners like Phil and his staff. I am very grateful for Phil?s honesty, when he could of charged me a significant amount more.

Phil is your man for transmission work!!!

My son is a student at MTSU and began having transmission problems. I thought here we go. We`ll never find someone reputable to do the repair. I googled ""transmissions Murfreesboro"" and Phil`s came up. I noticed there were reviews, and it sounded great. I called and spoke to Phil. He answered all my questions and was able to get my son`s car in immediately to access. After he had looked at it, he called bac... view morek and gave me 3 options. He didn`t push any of them. One would have been no money for him, one would be a $900 repair, and the last one would have been about $2000. We chose the $900 repair. He took the car Monday morning, and it was finished by lunch on Tuesday. He could have taken advantage of us, but didn`t. Phil is easy to talk to and knowledgeable. He always returned my call. I`m not sure the name of the girl who answers the phone, but she is very professional. If you have transmission trouble Phil`s is your place. He even said that if my son had any other problems come up with his car he would be glad to steer him in the right direction of where to take it. I am so thankful that there are still people who do what they say they will do. Thank you Phil!!!

Knowledgeable and fast

The dealer said my transmission needed to be replaced and that they would do it for $3500. The car isn?ˆ™t even worth that much?ˆ¦ I started looking for a rebuilt transmissions on the interweb and found that Phil?ˆ™s Transmission was an authorized Jasper dealer in Murfreesboro so I requested a quote on replacing the transmission. As it turns out, all it needed was a new gear placement senser, a $100 part. Bottom line, Phil?ˆ™s Transmission saved me alot of money!

Fast Professional & Fair

i live in nashville. the drive to the Boro would be the ONLY draw back. Notice I said ""would be"", the service, speed and price were all great. they fixed something 2 other shops in nashville couldnt.

Over rated and over priced

Brought my car in on a flatbed. Asked for an estimate. Thought the converter might be bad. They didn`t ask me to sign a workorder. Called 2 days later. Said it would be $2400 to rebuild the trans. Went down to get car and they had removed the transmission and taken it completely apart, without authorization. Said no thank you. Told me they needs 7 hours labor @ $65 an hour. What kind of pro needs 7 hours to take a tr... view moreansmission out and apart? Book says 7 hours to completely remove and replace it. Had to pay $400 for nothing. Got another shop nearby to install a rebuilt for $700. They also said it takes them 90 minutes to remove a transmission and take it apart. What makes these guys think they`re worth 3 times as much? Nothing. I went there because of the good review here, but it makes me wonder who really wrote it.

A honest mechanic and shop

My daughter attends MTSU near this shop. Sunday she started having issues with her SUV on her way home from work. A local policeman stopped and told her it appeard that she had a transmission issue. SHe called me and I told her to go to Phil`s based on a review I had read. I was seeing $$$$ rotating in my head but she needed her SUV so, oh well. Bottom line, he had me over a barrel and could have charged me big money, but he did the right thing and handeled it. An honest mechanic is not easy to find. I would recommend Phil`s to anyone.

Phil`s Transmission, Unbeatable knowledge and customer service!

Being new to the area I have to go by word of mouth for auto services. I needed transmission work done on my Expedition and I felt I was in for a real ordeal. I spoke to my local garage whom I trust and then I took it a bit further and called three other garages to ask whom to see for transmission troubles and they all told me with out hesitation take it to Phil`s Transmission.

They made me feel as if I was the only person that needed work done and really went out of their way to explaine everthing and even advised me on the best avenue to follow reguarding cost.
