LOW COUNTRY FINEST DEALERSHIP
Marathon Automotive has been my dealership since 2008 when I first brought my Chevy Cobolt. Not only did they extend a hand on making sure my Cobolt was running nicely but when I had the event of having the Cobolt totaled in an accident this year they were the team that help me get into another vehicle within the same day of finding out my Cobolt was totaled. The Sales team is one of the most efficient I?ˆ™ve seen I ga... view moreve my sales person (William Herron) a idea of my life schedule, my household and my features as well as my budget but also told him my I really want this car. When Will who I have to tell you made this whole situation so much easier and fun came back with three cars of my liking we were able to negotiate out the final selection (Dodge Caliber who we call Lady Bug). The process started at 8am and by 6pm I had signed the final sales agreement do mine you the finance team, sales team, as well as the body shop team got together to make sure the totaled car was taken care of and getting warranties cancelled and insurances swapped over. The body shop well what can I say I?ˆ™ve had more accidents with the Cobolt then I like to tell you about but every time they handed me back my car you couldn?ˆ™t tell anything happen Evelyn, Eric, Kevin, Robert, David, Crystal, and the team are all excellent individuals as well as they always take care of you. Now if you ever walk into Marathon one thing I can tell you is you will find Bill Walker (sales floor manager), Steve Jacobs (General Manager), and Al (finance manager) right in the front they will always check with you to make sure your okay. I spend so much time up there they all know me by name and face making me feel like I am someone special to them. KUDOS to team Marathon if you want a car and looking for a salesperson that isn?ˆ™t push check out William Herron at Marathon he makes the experience well unique he?ˆ™s a HOOT?ˆ¦

Scam Alert
Well i will start by saying that i was in desperate need of a vehicle and Micheal Jarvis a sales rep called and said he could get me into an 06 chevy colorado for $300.00 and my old trade.. So i went and spoke with him and explained that i had no credit and he said that it wasnt an issue well i got the truck that afternoon and monday he called me and said the bank wanted to have a meeting with me well i get there and... view more he pulls some crap about the finance company said on saturday they would cover me for the cost well monday they would only cover $2000 less because my bad credit and kept trying to push me into a cavalier that i didnt want. So i asked for the finance companies name and phone number 4 times and they kept beating around the bush till the manager asked to see me in his office. well i went and spoke with him and asked him a 5th time for the name and phone number and he told me finance companies do not speak to customers.well last time i checked if you owe someone money they will most likely talk to you. i wouldnt recommend marathon to no one....Now i see why they shut down there lot in north charleston....

Marathon Chevrolet
I purchased my Tahoe at the Summerville store. I had problems with the side molding coming off and they replaced them and and had to repaint them. The paint probably has metal in it and the parts they painted improperly rusted. I went for service at the Rivers location and they told me they would repaint the moldings. I just called to set up an appointment and they told me they would not redo them. I called back to g... view moreive them a chance to stand behind their work. I have been on hold for about 30 minutes and hung up and called back one more time before hitting the publish key on this web site.THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. This is a company vehicle and I have to turn the issue over to our corporate lawyer

Customer Service
I called MArathon and requested a lube job for my `98 Chevy Cargo Van . Arriving at appointed time I asked the lady at the service desk if they would take note of any problem at right front wheel because I was hearing a knock at certain times when turning. She passed the word to the mechanic and he in turn asked me to come to the vehicle after it was on the hoist..he wanted to.... quote: ""show you something"". He ex... view morepertly notified me of the tie rod problems and the serpentine belt. I agreed with him & asked for a quote on both.
The lady approached me in the waiting area and showed me a hand written quote with 8 items hand written with numbers, etc. At the bottom was the amount of ""450.00"". She said ""It comes to four hundred fifty dollars"" pointing to the paper.
That is a round number and I know it was unusual so I asked her ""Is that right out of the book?""
She replied ""It is from the book"".....I was set back a bit by the amount so I asked; ""Does it include the belt, the left and right ends both inner and outer as well as the two sleeves?""
Her reply again was ""That is right"".
So I authorized the repair verbally and we left on their shuttle. My mistake!
I came back next day.......
The amount on the invoice was considerably higher than the quote.
When given the invoice I protested it and the service lady was called and I pointed out the difference and she firmly supported her numbers telling me the belt was extra.
When one looks at the hand written quote she has all..that is ALL the items listed as line items and the ""450.00"" is at the bottom of the line items....but now there is a ""138.68"" added to the bottom which was not there before. She insisted it was...
This flies in the face of normal accounting procedures. You do not add again a sum to the bottom of an already listed item. (Doubling up) If your going to add an item you list it as such...She just plugged in the 138.68 boosting the service order unfairly.
I am a 3rd generation GM family and always a GM buyer since my 1949 2 year old Chevy. I asked for a ""GM Dealer"" when looking for the lube job so I would get GM Goodwrench reliability. I am very disapointed in this invoice and feel I have been not only set up but gouged for the 138.68.
I rely on GM service ...always have for these 56 years now. But this time I feel as an ""out of town customer"" I have been abused. I`ve not had a like experience before..not at a GM Service Center.
I repeatedly asked for an adjustment via E Mail. They..Jerry.. will not respond
UPDATE. IN RECIEVED COMMUNICATION WITH MARATHON ALL ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. THANK YOU!

Horrible Customer Service
I recently got into a car accident in my 2008 Chevy Malibu. My car was taken to the body shop at Marathon Chevrolet North Charleston, SC for repairs. I was totally disappointed with the service I received. A representative from the body shop contacted the insurance company telling them the repairs on my car were complete. No one from the body shop bothered to call me to tell me my car was done, I found out through th... view moree rental car company. When I arrived the at the dealership to pick up my car it was not complete. It was missing a mirror cover. I still had to pay to take my car and was promised the part would arrive the next day. At this point the body shop had been paid full price for an incomplete job. The next day, I went back to the dealership at the time I was told to have the part installed and it still was not in. It has been almost a week and the only thing I received from this body shop is attitude. I am both angered and frustrated and will be filing a complaint. The reps at this shop are more interested in taking the customer`s money than actually providing a service. I would NEVER recommend this shop to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Avoid this shop at all costs.

Miracles can happen
I recently saw an ad in the paper Marathon miracle. I was having trouble getting a car loan. I went from deal ship to deal ship and they all told me I could not buy. So I call the number, when the person on the other end Bill Boughton told me he has one of the best finance mangers in the business I was leery. But he told me to come in and I did. They were so understanding of my financial troubles and went that extra ... view moremile. It did take some time for the finance manger Bernis Webb to get me approved but he was able to get me in a car that I could afford. It was not my dream car but now I am able to get my credit back on track. They told me that after about a year and a half I can trade this car in and get what I really want. Thank you Marathon Chevrolet and all the people who helped me get a car. I am going to tell all my friends about you guys.

BUYER BEWARE
recently my wife and I have been shopping for a newer car. We picked out a vehicle we liked at Marathon, and put up $3500.00 for a down payment. After driving the car for almost a week, they tell us that they need more information for bank approval. My wife`s mother agreed to cosign for the loan, and they assured us that there would be no problems. The next day, they call again to say that my wife needed to sign som... view moree more paperwork. When she arrived, they tell her that they need another $1500.00 for a down payment, or they could put her in another(which she didn`t like) for another $500.00. When she refused, they then tell her that she could have the original car we picked out for $500.00. At this point she called me, and I showed up to let them know that we would take our business elsewhere. When I arrived, they tell me that we could still have the car if we paid $400.00 instead(they were planning to give my mother-in-law $100.00 of our cash for cosigning the loan!). We gave them back the keys, and asked for our down payment back, at which point they tell us that they cannot issue a check for 10 business days, because our check had not cleared yet. The following morning, I contacted the bank to stop payment, and I discover that the check had cleared 4 days earlier! At this point I am STILL having to deal with these shysters to get my money back! I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a vehicle.

bend over and take it, if you want it
I went to this dealership looking for a fair deal, and didnt want to have to beat up the salesman to get it. I explained my situation and told him what i was looking for. One of my friends had bought a truck there the day before and told me that he had gotten a good deal. well he had thought he did. they took their sweet time delivering the vehicle to him. well anyways i was interested in a new chevy malibu, and... view more was looking to trade in my truck. they pull around a malibu that the sales manager has been driving as his personal car, had bout 400 miles on it and there was a gas tank in the trunk that was leaking vapors and smelled accordingly. well i drove the car and really liked it. so they went to work the numbers and came back with the car right at sticker price, and was offering pennies on the dollar for my truck; i would have been better off taking the truck to the scrap yard to get money for it. telling me that my truck had depricated over 20 thousand in just 2 years. they werent willing to budge on the price eventhough it was basically used and smelt of gas. treating me like a dumb kid. with the economy the way it is and with GM bout to go under, you would figure they would want to sell something. then i got the phone calls over the next few days trying to get me back in. but i decided i would go ahead and get a quality car, went with the altima whose sticker price was the same but paid 2500 less and Hudson also gave me over 3000 more for my truck. in the long run i think ill be glad they didnt give me a deal, when they recall the malibu`s for chevy standard quality. they have to sell cars high because they have about 30 salesman standing around waiting to stick it to you. Chef McCoulough is a good guy though
