Reviews:

Id have to disagree with almost of these reviews.First off youve got to go any auction with a open mind that the cars are as is.so its best to bring someone with you who knows about cars. I purchase 2 cars so far I guess Ive been lucky. In 2006 I purchased a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse that i still drive. I brought it at 130,000 now has 196,000 and in 2013 i brought a 06 chevy at 4,000 with a mileage of 132,000 and t... view morehe blue book value was 6,500 for good condition . So far ive invested about 500 in work and a new set of tires.I do plan on going back soon for a truck! :) Be wise and chose carefully!

I bought two cars at the auction. One was "so-so" and needed some work but was as expected for an as is vehicle. The second vehicle was in much better shape. I don`t know who the person spoke too that said that they couldn`t drive the car. But everyone I spoke too allowed me to drive the car and run it as long as I liked. I understand them not wanting someone to drive the car of the lot because of insur... view moreance risks, but be reasonable, would you allow just anybody to drive your personal car anywhere. (You need to see that GEICO ad). I`m much pleased with the service I got and the staff was extra helpful in answering "personal" questions about the car as much as they are allow to answer. I bought a newer 2007 Honda Odyessy recently and had to change a wheel bearing assembly just weeks after I got it. My other Honda, I had to change struts, shocks and timing belt. The only thing I can say is if you don`t trust used cars, buy and new one, and let me assure you, they is either a recall on it, something weird about it, or something goes wrong way before the warranty wears out. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" or stay home

You can find a good deal there
I bought a used VW Passat there for $3300 and put about 25K miles on it with no problems. I was driving home from school the weekends 3 1/2 hours each way and never felt nervous about it breaking down. After graduating college, I bought a new car but drove the Passat to the dealership to trade it in--again, never had a problem with the used car and had it about a year and a half.

Before the auction starts, y... view moreou can crank the engine, look under the hood, and use your phone to research the make/model/title. And you know up front that the cars are sold as is. So if you happen to buy a car that`s a piece of sh*t, I`m sorry but that`s one of the risks of buying a car from ANY auction and that`s why you save so much over a dealership. I don`t know a lot about cars so I brought my dad and a friend with me to help out with the selection process. It sucks that anybody else would have a bad experience with their used car, but no offense, it seems kind of unrealistic to expect to buy a USED car ""as is"" and then be mad at the dealer/lot for the car having any mechanical issues.

And I think the auction is a fun place just to check out sometime. I`ve been back twice since buying the VW and it`s just a good time to watch the action of people bidding on cars. I saw an older BMW convertible that was in running condition go for $750 one time.

Run across some steals
I`ve gotten my last few cars there and go just for fun a lot. I`ve done what the person below said and bid on a car when I wasn`t planning to and didnt register, but you still have to pay the $25 when you get inside. So it`s not like you pay more when you play by the rules. But there are a lot of cars that aren`t worth buying, but there are also a lot of great cars too, especially in this bad economy. It`s a lot of... view more fun and high energy. I`d recommend going once to watch before you go to buy. And I`d take a mechanic with you as well. Like the people that work there told me, they don`t own the cars so they don`t know whats wrong with them, so it`s best to bring somebody with you that does. I got one not too long ago for cheap that only needed a spark plug, so I put barely any money in it and now its perfect. This is where a lot of the dealers buy their cars, so I think of it as skipping the middle man. I don`t know what`s wrong with the people below or why they`ve had such bad experiences, but I have always enjoyed mine. Skip the middle man, save some money, and have fun doing it....Just don`t bid against me! ha

This place is a rip Off
I Bought a 1998 Mazda 626 for summerville auto auction it was a lemon i cranked it up it ran perfect, they drove it through the line it ran perfect win i won the bid on it ready to leave out the parking lot the transmission started slipping i got the transmission rebuilt and about two weeks later the motor locked up on it and something also tell me to look under the car both cv joints were busted and need a wheel bea... view morering i would not advise anyone to go there because look wut i had got a lemon so buyers from the auction beware of the vechicals u purches from there to tell you the truth people u rather go to a dealership to buy a car at least you can test drive it from a dealership so people good luck to you i know mine was bad luck i purchesd the car for 1,700 i wound up putting 2,100 in to it well i know next time to get a car from a dealership.

Buyer Beware
This place has pretty much turned into a used car lot with salesman approaching you before the sale. I have bought several cars here but only one turned out to be a good car. When I bought those cars I had the chance to pull them forward and backwards to make sure they sounded okay. Many times you don`t find the problem until the car gets hot. This last time we noticed many of the cars seemed to have somethin... view moreg added to the oil. Also, they said we absolutely couldn`t move the car. They do drive them through but that doesn`t tell you if reverse has a problem. Also, many of the cars have a ""dead battery"" which means you can`t crank it, you can`t check to see if the windows work, etc. Pretty convenient if you aske me. The last thing I`ll say is that every time I`ve gone, they announce that you can`t bid without a bidder number so I`ve gone in like a good little girl and paid my $25.00 non-refundable fee, yet invariably someone ALWAYS ends of buying a car yet they didn`t have a number. So I lose my 25.00 if I don`t buy anything and those folks who are not playing by the rules don`t lose anything. As long as Summerville Auto Auction gets the bid they want, they`ll sell it to you!

Summerville Auto Auction is a SCAM
This place sucks! They have it rigged so that the general public cannot bid on any decent vehicles. The vehicles for auction to the peasants were mostly ones that should have been junked as far as I can see. What a waste of my time.

Waste of Time!
I went to the public auction with the hopes of finding a decent car. I walked around the lot to preview the cars. In fact, I found a nice one that I wanted to bid on, but an attendant shooed me away: that car was available ONLY FOR DEALERSHIPS. So, let me get this straight--they get the best price for their sellers by LIMITING WHO CAN BID ON CERTAIN CARS? I watched the auction with the hopes that there ... view morewould be other cars in good shape that I had missed, but what I saw seemed to be cars that were TOO CRAPPY TO SELL on a used car dealers lot. It seemed like 99% of the cars for sale were from used car dealerships (apparently they couldn`t sell them on their lots). This place is a good deal for used car dealers and NO ONE ELSE. For example, at the auction when a car dealer sells to another car dealer they offer a warranty. But, when an individual wins an auction there is NO WARRANTY. It just doesn`t seem fair, does it? In my opinion the General public should NOT buy here--do NOT sell here either!! I saw a couple of people try to sell their personal vehicle and the bidding on neither of the cars reached the reserve price. Banks: I can`t believe that you would allow an auction house to restrict the sale of your repos to only car dealerships!!! But that seems to be what`s going on here!!!! Good Luck, you`re going to need it.

The manager is barely running (if at all) a legal business). The cars are mostly very poor standard.Do not work for the man.If he decides to pay you,it`ll depend on the mood he`s in.He`s very cocky & arrogant.Office help is the same way. He`s running an underhanded business. Not paying for work is against the law.He has a God like attitude,so I guess he feels he can get away w/it.
