SAVE MONEY BY GOING ELSEWHERE...EVEN ""PREMIUM"" CAN COST LESS

Whenever anyone is looking for transmission work, I will go out of my way to say ""I will NEVER bring my car to K & B Transmission in Woonsocket, RI."" Here`s my story: I brought in my 1996 Ford Taurus for K & B Transmission on a referral by my regular mechanic who was out of state at the time. I`m familiar with the average repair/replace cost so I was going to go on the referral alone and brought my car in.... view more My mistake, lesson learned. I was told by K& B Transmission Inc that my transmission needed to be replaced and that it would be $2500. Once I picked my jaw up from the floor, I called most other listed transmission repair shops within a 20 mile radius of Woonsocket to get quotes. The range of repair cost estimates quoted by ALL other transmission repair shops was between $1200 (rebuilt) and $1700 (new). Just what I thought! Of course, I decided to bring my car elsewhere. To add insult, K&B still charged me a $65 diagnostic fee to tell me I needed a new transmission. I ALREADY KNEW I needed a new transmission, which is why I sought out a transmission repair shop in the first place!!! Boy do I feel ripped off! I let my regular mechanic know and I am confident that he will not be referring his customers K& B Transmission any longer. For most of us that are driving a 1996 Ford Taurus, money is already tight! Hopefully this review saves you $1065.
