The City Never Sleeps!
? For over fifty (50) years, Romana and Chuck Primus, their family and the staff at Whaling City Motors have been proudly serving southeastern Connecticut and southern Rhode Island, including the areas around Westerly, Stonington, Ledyard, Groton, New London, Waterford, Lyme, Saybrook, Essex, Westbrook, Colchester, Montville, Norwich, and Griswold. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Romana`s father, Sigmund Strochlitz, established Whaling City Ford in 1957 in downtown New London. In 1966, the dealership moved to its present location at Broad and Colman Streets. Mr. Strochlitz became a well known public figure because of his extensive activities on behalf of the local hospital and other civic and charitable agencies. His genuinely warm greeting on cable TV commercials, "Come in. I`d like to meet you," prompted people to come in to the dealership to say hello.? ? People also stopped him on the street and at the supermarket to introduce themselves.? ? Mr. Strochlitz loved to chat with customers, and he established Whaling City as a friendly, open, easy-going place of business that focuses on the needs of its customers. Chuck and Romana follow Mr. Strochlitz`s lead. They work to make Whaling City a place where customers enjoy their visits and get the highest level of automotive service. Over the years, Whaling City has sold more new Ford cars and trucks than any other dealership in the area and has won numerous awards for customer service. In March 2008, Whaling City expanded its operations by acquiring Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda from the former New London Motors.
