He`s my Cottman man and he keeps me rolling along!

All Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care centers abide by Cottman`s complete service philosophy, which calls for your vehicle to be repaired properly the first time, so that you don`t have to lose either time or money. Cottman`s Service Philosophy is the reason why millions of customers have trusted us to repair their vehicle`s transmissions over the past five decades. You see, at Cottman, we know you have more important things to worry about than your car. Cottman will never compromise its standards just to make a vehicle "superficially drivable." We will never perform a low quality service that would result in increased costs, inconvenience, and possible hazardous driving conditions for our customers.

Always Had Good Luck
Interesting to read the mixed reviews! I have gone to Molnar`s for years. They`ve always done a fine job and have not seemed any more expensive, but then I have not really shopped around! I only take the car when it breaks or needs inspection, and I get routine stuff done at the same time, so maybe I don`t notice price differences! Anyway, they have always done a good job for me.

Below average service, try to pull the wool over your eyes
I have gone to Rudy Molnar`s twice over the past 2 years. I was disappointed after the first visit, but decided to go again since the location is so close to where I live.

My car is fairly unique despite being made by General Motors. That said, the mechanics at Rudy`s (in particular the one named Mike) don`t particularly care for older vehicles, nor do they know how to maintain them properly. On my first visi... view moret, I had my water pump changed. Despite the fact that I was charged for replacement coolant (which is necessary after changing the water pump after all), the coolant system of my car was half empty. I nearly overheated on the highway, and had to call a friend to pick up 4 gallons of antifreeze. I chalked this up as an honest mistake, since I figured the mechanic had no idea the car could hold 10 gallons of coolant, or that he spent so much effort to change the pump that he forgot to check the coolant level. Anyway, this is NOT the mark of a professional mechanic.

I went again recently to have my car inspected. They complained about the emergency brake, and that the car was dragging one wheel. I drove it without any problems at 75+ MPH across the entire state of Pennsylvania the day before. Believe me, if brakes are dragging at those speeds, you will notice smoke and an awful bad smell coming from the caliper. None of this happened. Probably they didn`t know how to operate it. Instead, they attempted to adjust it by attaching vicegrips to the cable and working the parking brake lever. Not only is this NOT the proper procedure, but it risks damaging the lever as well as the cable. How did I know they did this? When I was driving the car home, I couldn`t help but notice a funny metallic scraping sound from the back of my car. They had left the vicegrips attached to the cables, and they were dragging along the road! Very professional! In the medical industry this is the equivalent of leaving a scalpel inside of your patient after performing surgery.

Great Customer Service
I`ve been going to Molnar`s for many years, and have alway been more than pleased with the excellent, personal service I`ve received. They may not be the least expensive service station on the block, but the service and parts are top notch, and knowing the repairs are done right the first time, makes it worth while. I know when my children are in the car, I don`t have to worry about whether Molnar`s used inferior p... view morearts! I`ve moved into the suburbs, and still travel to Shadyside for auto repairs and inspection, as great service isn`t easy to find.

Unbelievable expensive
A 1994 car?s distributor was broken. They asked for around $450 for a rebuild distributor, or $300 for a used one! Thank God. There is google. You could find a new one for about $180. Another shop only charged me about 100 for a used one. Finally, when I left Molnar, they charged me about $90 for checking the distributor was broken.
If you need some gold parts to replace, welcome!

Good honest service
This may not be the best option for a quick-lube--there are chains for that though. But they are really good for getting work done if something`s wrong with your car. An honest, professional auto shop--there`s nothing more to say about it really.

BEST CAR REPAIR SHOP IN PITTSBURGH! ! ! !
I have been going to Molnar?s Service Center for years. I can?t say enough about the quality of service and professional manner in which I am treated. I changed jobs a few years ago and thought I would save some time and drop my car off at a shop close to my new office. I didn?t realize how good I had it! They gave me a list of repairs estimated at $2,000. I was so distraught; I took it from there back to Molnar?s th... view moree same day. My car was repaired and passed inspection for under $400. I was really impressed at how HONEST AND GOOD these guys are. I would recommend this repair shop to everyone! ! !

Outstanding service!
I`ve been going to Rudy Molnar`s for year, for inspection and routine repairts. They have had numerous opportunities to rip me off, but never did! They are excellent mechanics, extremely honest, and very fair-priced. I`ve been to places that told me things had to be fixed when they didn`t, and other places that missed major flaws that were actually dangerous. I don`t have a fancy car, and for what little they charge,... view more I can`t possibly be their best customer .... but they always treat me as if I am just that.

Good service.
Molnar`s is going to be slower and more expensive than a quickie shop, but they are thorough and very good. They`ve kept three of my old cars going for as long as possible, and gave it to me straight when they were through. They also take me very seriously for whatever complaint I have, even though I`m female (many shops do not take women seriously).

They are more expensive, because they are so thorough and ... view morehave experienced staff. They also take longer because they get so much business. But I consider it worth it.

Unbelieveable!!!
Rudy Molnar`s place took all day to change my oil and rotate my tires, and at the end of the day they charged me $60 for the whole thing. Now, I have a regular SUV, nothing fancy. What really got me was that they charged me $16 for the tire rotation, something my old lube place used to do for free!!! I couldn`t believe it, and since I`m really ticked right now and can`t get my money back, I figured the best thin... view moreg I could do would be to warn off other potential customers. Go somewhere else where they don`t gouge you.
