So I was looking to get my truck that hadn`t been running in a while back to running condition. So I had taken it to this shop by referral, which didn`t end up to be a good one. What I initially wanted to do was just rebuild my motor. Then the owner,Nick from Lebanon in the Middle East ,said I would be better off just putting in another motor. He said to call back in a few days after I think about what I want to do. ... view moreWhen I called back, he said that him and his buddies were talking and that I should just do a v8 swap. I agreed, as I wanted to do this for a long time( the truck is a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT ). We then talked about what motor I should put in the truck. I had wanted to put a 350 in, but they had talked me up to this 305 they had. They claimed it was a four bolt 305( which they don`t make a 4 bolt 305) He claimed it had a nice cam in it, and they had been through the whole motor themselves, so they know it wont give me any issues and will run for a long time. So we had agreed on 2500 out the door.
So once we decided on the price, he said he would start as soon as I put some money down. I then drove over to his shop right away and paid him 1000.00 of the money. He told me the job would take 2-3 weeks. I then called once a week to check how the progress was. Every time I talked to him, there was always something else going on. If I couldn`t get ahold of him, I would go check on the truck myself. Almost every time I went up there, My truck would be sitting outside not being worked on. He would be working on other vehicles or messing around with a boat a buddy brought in. He was supposed to be done on the 6th of april. When April 6th came, I went in there with my father to pick the truck up. Well then he got mad, and said I had been rushing him. This is 4 weeks after he had the truck. He then said he just needed a little bit longer to get it running perfect.
3 days later I called Nick, and he said he was having issues with the radiator, and it would be a little longer. I just didn`t call him assuming that he would call when he was done. finally 2 weeks go by, and I call him to ask what was going on. He then says the truck is running and I can come pick it up. When I arrived the truck was able to be started, but had exhaust leaks all over the place. He then blamed that on my exhaust. The truck had no power, and could barely drive down the road. I drove it about a mile away, and could smell anti freeze, and fuel. So I drove it back, and parked it back at his shop. I then told him it wasn`t running right, and he said. "Well I put the motor in, That`s what you wanted" I told him I paid him to put a motor in and make it run right. He said it was my exhaust and tranny that was the issue. I then told him if my tranny wouldn`t work with the motor, then why would he do the swap. He then called me cocky, and blew me off. I told him that I would just take him to court, and he hammered back with " That`s fine, I`ll just bring all of my attorneys!".
I went back the next day to take pictures and video of the truck in it`s current condition. Nick kept coming over and giving me grief. Saying he did what he said he was going to do, And mocking me for taking pictures. I then had the truck towed to another shop, to have it check out. They came back saying that the carbs were way out whack, and the timing was off. The exhaust had major leaks. I will never Take anything back to this shop, and would never let anybody else be ripped off by this small brother shop. They had said so much more derogatory stuff towards me, But I dont want to list it all. You already get the point. Also when the had possession of the truck, the took crappy care of it. They Dented the truck, but wouldn`t own up to it. I asked them about it, and they denied it right away, and said that all the damages were prior to being with them.
