It came recommended to me when I needed a new mechanic for my van`s annual inspection. The service was done quick, while I waited. I`m bringing my other car there tomorrow for the same thing: inspection (plus fix the A/C).

Jimmy actually takes the time ...
Jimmy actually takes the time to explain the issues to you, I have never had an experience with a mechanic like this. I was used to dropping and picking my car up and never actually seeing or talking to the person fixing my vehicle! Now not only do I get to speak to the owner, who is the one working on my car, he has actually had me under my car and showed me how it works and why I needed repairs. Would highly recomm... view moreend him to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy mechanic!

My response to Marge C, whoeve...
My response to Volvoline We have been servicing their vehicles on and off since 5/10 and have had nothing but problems with them. At first I was really patient with them, but it quickly began to fade because they were not getting anything fixed, questioned every cent, called repeatedly to find out which parts they could buy online, and taking their cars elsewhere to get fixed cheaper. Last November we basicall... view morey parted ways, I told them that if all my customers were like them I would go out of business. Yeah it was rude and I shouldn?ˆ™t have let them get to me. When she brought her car to me it was in bad shape and was at at-least ONE other shop. We gladly took them in and assumed that they were going to act like normal customers. After spending a few hours testing her rough running engine, I found that her crank sensor?ˆ™s electrical wires were frayed and if you wiggled them, the car would immediately shut down. After replacing the sensor and taking the car for a road test, she picked it up and drove away. I had also noticed that the exhaust was leaking and her motor mounts were bad causing her engine to shake. Typically I replace every mount when I replace motor mounts, but considering the type of clients I only recommended her motor mounts. Maybe she did also need a transmission mount, but she never brought the car for me to fix. She did however send a bunch of emails asking which parts she needed so they could buy them online for cheap. Soon after we get a message stating their car would not start, I left a message stating that I would take a look at it for her and bring it back. They never did and took it somewhere else. Almost a month had passed and we get an email stating they wanted us to replace the motor mounts and fix the exhaust for FREE! Why would I do that, I have a family to feed too. If she did need an ignition coil it was purely coincidental and a normal customer would have brought the car back to me immediately. A lot of mechanics get a bad rap for recommending parts that the car may not need simply to cover their back if their diagnosis is wrong. I only sold her ONE part and it needed it. I could have recommended getting a full tune up, including a coil and a fuel filter, but I only wanted to fix their problem and nothing more. She may have needed an ignition coil but when I had the car it showed no signs of failure. Seems to me that someone is just mad that their unmaintained 1990 Volvo had a compound of problems. If I could have done anything differently I would have not reacted so harshly when they wanted me to fix their car for free. I should have just explained to them that I don?ˆ™t do free work unless it?ˆ™s my fault. I also can?ˆ™t fix a car if it?ˆ™s not at my shop. I also can?ˆ™t take another shops word about a car?ˆ™s repair it?ˆ™s hearsay. For those who want to learn from this, find a mechanic and stick to them. Don?ˆ™t outsource their recommendations it is insulting and only hurts small businesses. We are not like Monro or Goodyear, there is a fine line between income and expense. We can?ˆ™t afford to have customers question every dollar just to take their car somewhere else. I still stand by my decision to replace their crank sensor and still know that their motor mounts and exhaust need service. We embrace all customers, but there is still a line that cant be crossed, they crossed it.

Jimmy and Lindsay have always ...
Jimmy and Lindsay have always been nothing less that great with our cars. Sometimes he calls us to show us what he is explaining. It makes you feel apart of your car`s repair. I may not know about cars but I like how they explain everything to us. I can trust his quality work. On the side note, I asked if he did body work and he said he was just starting out but could do it as best as he could with spray paint. He on... view morely charged me $290 for fixing 3 big holes in my F250`s bed and fender`s. It took him a pretty long time but it was worth the wait. He welded in new custom steel that he shaped then used used body filler and sanded everything very evenly. He also fixed two dents while he was there too.

Long story short: I will own t...
Long story short: I will own that this negative review is partly my fault. Jimmy`s On-It showed itself to be inept and unprofessional a couple times before I was asked to never contact them again. But we`ll get back to that. Essentially, Jimmy appears to be a nice guy who is in over his head. He simply shouldn`t be running a shop, although he`d probably be decent working under someone else. His gal Friday is abrupt a... view moret best and rude at worst. I can`t think of any other profession where you can be nasty to people on a regular basis and expect to get paid, so I don`t know else she should do. Bitterness management classes? Therapy? Lord knows. I once took my car to Jimmy for him to work on my tires and got it back without one of the wheel covers. When I asked him about it, he just said he had no idea what happened. No offer to replace it. Yeah. I replaced it. But foolishly, we went back to him when we found ourselves in a tough spot. My 1990 Volvo was having trouble running, and I took it back to Jimmy. He replaced the ignition censor, which got us home, but the next day, the car was dead. I called Jimmy back and told him it wasn`t working, and he told me he`d take another look at it. When I told my husband this, I think his exact words were, "Are you crazy?!" So it sat in front of our house for a week. By random coincidence, a guy buying our old refrigerator happened to be an auto tech instructor and correctly diagnosed the real problem -- a bad ignition coil. Oh, and he did this for FREE! (No discount off the cost of the fridge, either.) Anyway, my husband repaired it and I contacted Jimmy. I thought by then I`d find myself at this site, strongly discouraging anyone from using him. I also knew I wouldn`t get a refund or any consideration for his screw-up (oh, that cost me $300) but I thought that if he would even agree to look at the car (for another issue) for a discounted price, I wouldn`t give him a negative review, I would just never go. Anyway, I asked if I would get a discounted price and this was the response I got: Please erase our number and email address. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone That`s right -- he used Steve Jobs for evil. Hey, I`ll get over it -- mechanics are right up there with politicians in general. But I took the time to write this as honestly as possible because I found Jimmy on the Internet. And if you`re going to spend $300 getting your car repaired, it should at least work. If it doesn`t, you should know you have a mechanic who`s going to make it right. If you read this and call Jimmy anyway, it`s not my fault. I`ve done my part. UPDATE (10-14): Jimmy also told me my car needed motor mounts during my last visit. Yeah, and stupid me, I listened, bought them and took them to another mechanic. Turns out I need TRANSMISSION MOUNTS! Seriously, do what you want. But if you plan to take your car to this guy, I would strenuously object. He has no idea what he is doing! NONE!! And for the record, that`s $340 he`s cost me now. If that`s being "on it," I`m good. And I`d love to hear why we were such bad customers, there, James. I can give you reason upon reason why you`re the worst mechanic I`ve ever encountered. Even if we were the worst customers ever, there`s no justification in taking someone`s money and not doing the job. In some circles, they`d call that theft. The fact that that comment is his only response should tell you everything you need to know about the guy.

I have taken multiple cars to Jimmy including my past two (Ford Contour and a Subaru WRX). Additionally my parents, brother, and aunt have all taken their vehicles to Jimmy with no issues. My aunt did have a recurring issue with some carbon build up that kept causing issues but Jimmy brought back, with no additional charge, to work on and address. He has been upfront, honest, has a quick turn around time, and is very reasonably priced.

10 out of 10!
New to the area, we didn`t know where to find a decent, honest mechanic when our car broke down. My son, who lives in Avalon, went through all the routine problems and figured it was the starter - not a cheap or easy fix. After a day of searching: ie, reading reviews, ratings from numerous sites, etc... we found Jimmy. Somewhat daunted by the 1 negative review, we decided to take a chance after considering that the w... view moreriter was a former classmate and may have written for an ulterior purpose; Jimmy explained later that the guy never told him he had continued to have problems and was shocked to hear what he`d written. He said he would have never intentionally left anyone with a problem like that. We went through the situation with our car and he offered to look at it no charge and fix it no charge if it was something simple like it corroded cable. It turned out to be the starter. He called and went through prices before he did any other work, installed the starter that afternoon and the car was ready to go. He was honest, quick and very reasonable. We would recommend him to any person looking for a mechanic!
