Plisinski Brothers...Outrageous Charge for Diagnostics ($135)
My car left me stranded while on a main road in Bryn Mawr. Not being familiar with the area, I asked someone if they could provide the name of a nearby auto repair facility that also towed. Plisinski Brothers was mentioned so I called them and had my car towed by them to their facility. The next morning Plisinski Brothers called me to report what my car needed after doing the diagnostics for which they charged me ... view more$135. Outrageous! I questioned the fee and was informed that one and one-half hours were doing the diagnostics.
I am not in the auto repair business, but I do know this is not a customary diagnostics charge and that Plisinski Brothers was taking advantage of me. Aside from the outrageous diagnostic charge which was never communicated to me prior to performing any diagnostics, their cost for an alternator for an older American car, $364, was also very much out of line. Plisinski Brothers was very responsive when it came to towing my car; hence, the one star given in this review. However, I`d be curious to know how much of their business is from towing stranded cars which must be pretty lucrative as car owners are very vulnerable at that time.
I spoke with two people at Plisinski Brothers requesting that the diagnostics charge be reduced but was told that it would not change. In addition, I was told that if I wanted my car, I had to pay $210 in cash--$75 for the towing and $135 for the diagnostics.
If Plisinski Brothers insist on charging outrageous fees for diagnostics, they need to first get approval from the car owners. Most likely this is not done because there aren`t too many car owners who would be willing to pay $135 for diagnostics. So, save yourself some money and find another auto repair place that has values, will not take advantage of you and will treat you with professionalism.
