Brian`s Automotive was founded on July 28th, 1975 by Brian Gortney, a life resident of Canton, Ohio. Prior to opening the business, Brian had worked as a mechanic at local Ford, Mazda, and Volvo dealers and was a Volvo Certified mechanic. Earlier, Brian had worked with both his father and grandfather, who were both mechanics since he was a very young boy. Brian`s grandfather ran a Sinclair gas station and garage in Dover, Ohio and later built his own 5 car shop with an attached office and machine room. Brian`s father, George Gortney, went on to become involved in the auto parts industry as a manufacturers representative and training specialist for major Automotive Corporations, and later became an independent representative for many National Brands of automotive parts. George is currently retired from his business and is running the office as Service Manager at Brian`s Automotive. George will be the first to greet you when you enter the office at Brian`s Automotive and is always willing to share a lifetime of automotive knowledge. The shop is extensively equipped with the latest "State of the Art" diagnostic and repair tools, scanners and computer systems and has an on site machine shop.

I had a wonderful experience at Brian`s Automotive, we have a 2001 Saab Station wagon and we wouldn`t take it anywhere else. Brian is well educated with the Saab and their sometimes extra special needs. He was honest and totally kept us in the loop about what we actually needed to repair and didn`t try to talk us into a bunch of extra stuff and focusing on the main problems. I feel like it was clean and professional and will be taking our car there soon, I would and do recommend it. I can`t believe anyone had a bad experience at Brian Automotive. I noticed one of the reviews said you must be a relative to give Brian a good review. I want everyone reading this review to know that I am not a relative and I am an Afro-American female. I have used Brian twice now and each time he called me throughout the process to give updates and asking my permission before fixing anything! I own a SAAB 93 a... view morend I called five mechanic shops around the Canton area to explain that there was a loud noise coming from the right side of my car near the front tire. I made the decision to choose Brian based off his knowledge about my SAAB. He asked me direct questions over the phone about the type of car I was driving. He asked if my engine was turbo and if I did not know he could tell me by using my vin number. For example...not sure if I have the number right, but he said if there is a number 4 after the Y then it is turbo. (You get the point.). I told him the dealership said it was a timing belt problem. Brian explained some SAABs were built with timing belts and some with timing chains depending on the year it was built. He did all this on the first initial phone conversation without looking at my car. The other mechanics I called all needed to look up the information and call me back later with their findings. Originally, I took my car to a local dealership and was told that my car would not last another two weeks if I did not change the belt. The replacement would cost me about $2,300.00 and some additional cosmetic work I wanted done would cost about $5,000.00 dollars total. I decided to save my money and try Brian`s Automotive since my car is no longer under warranty. Once Brian looked at the car he called me and said sometimes a good cleaning detergent can clean out the junk that builds up in a car engine. He said he needed to do an oil change too. I had the dealership do an oil change and the noise was still there so I was reluctant to have the procedure done again. Anyway, I decided to trust Brian and I am glad I did because I no longer hear the noise, my car is running fine and I did not have to replace my timing belt. Plus, its been 4 months since the dealership said my car would stop working after two weeks. Brian told me the minute I have to start putting to much money into my car he would tell me to get rid of my car first and I believe him. As long as I own my car I will continue to go to Brian Automotive. Highly Recommend!

Brian worked on my car about 6 months ago. I had an electrical issue that could not be located by any other shop in the area. Brian found the problem and made the repair at a reasonable price. He stayed in touch with me throughout the process and I couldn`t be happier. I thought I was going to have to get a new car!!! I highly recommend Brian`s Automotive.

Unsatisfied customer

I totally disagree with the reviw that was submitted by the person that said this business was clean. Are you blind? You are obviously a relative trying to make this business look better. I had bad experience there. The owner was very rude to me and the place was filthy. He lied to me about work he did. I wasted my money because two days after he supposedly "fixed" my car, the same thing suddenly "brok... view moree" again. He wanted me to pay again for something he supposedly fixed before. I`m going to tell everyine I know about this business.

EXCELLENT SERVICE, ASE MASTER MECHANIC, ASA MEMBER, Fair, Honest & Highly Competent. Since 1975

Very well pleased with my experience at Brian`s Automotive. The shop was clean & well organized. The equipment was all top-notch. Brian is an ASE Certified Master Mechanic, and the shop is an ASA affiliate. I had my late model BMW at many different shops, including the dealer for a hesitation/stalling issue to no avail, and at great expense. GREAT SERVICE, FAIR PRICES, HONEST & HIGHLY QUALIFIED !

I was very well pleased with my experience at Brian`s Automotive. The shop was very clean, well organized, and all of the equipment appeared to be top notch. Brian is an ASE certified Master Mechanic and is very friendly, honest, and competent, he has been at the same location since 1975.The shop is also an ASA member shop.
