Reputable, honest, and caring
I blew a tire on I-675 this fall and was in a serious bind due to being laid off for several months. Tires for my car are over $100 each new and at that time that might as well been a million dollars as I did not have it.
When the tow truck operator came to put my spare on, he mentioned Murphy`s autocare and that they would probably be able to help me out. He called and the staff at Murphy`s arranged to fit me in ... view moreon an emergency basis. After looking at all my tires Dave Murphy quoted me a price for a pair of new tires that seemed fair but given my circumstances was out of my price range.
Knowing this, he then searched for a pair of used tires that would not only be safe but affordable.
I`m quite certain there was more profit in the new tires, yet they went over and above to help me out. Throughout the time I was waiting I found the staff very friendly, especially Dave, and carried on a conversation. Despite the fact they were obviously busy, Murphy talked to me like he had known me forever. I found the waiting area to be pleasant and clean. I have recommended Murphy`s autocare to others and will use them again when I need them.

Professional, friendly but looking for dupes
This is a few years old but I thought I would share. I went to Murphy`s based on reviews from Click & Clack (the radio program). The owner greeted me, was upfront about inspection/diagnoses costs and even arranged for transportation. They were a little more expensive but seemed to do reputable work, and I took my car back several times. The last time I took it in to find the cause of a shimmy in the steering exp... view moreecting just a front end alignment. They called back later that day, said they couldn`t find anything wrong but noticed that my tires were dry rotting and needed to be replaced. The tires were three years old and less than 40k miles. I take my car to automotive experts mostly because I lack the tools not because I`m dumb about cars. I`ve never gone back. I knew they were pulling a fast one on me. BTW, I kept those tires for another 3 years and another 40k miles. I hate when people perceive ignorance and try to take advantage.

Best Automotive Shop In Beavercreek!!
I went in for service a week ago and i have to say that i am very pleased with every aspect of this company. The service i got from the front counter was excellent along with the owner of the company greeting me upon arrival by name. They had a technician thoroughly look over my car for a few maintenance items that i requested be done as well as for their detailed inspection. He also found a few safety issues that n... view moreeeded attention as well with my car that i wasn`t aware of. They gave me prices and told me what work would be done with my approval and even asked if they could keep my car overnight. I said that was okay and they offered to give me a ride to my house free of charge and even offered to pick me up the next day when they were finished. (Rare quality to find in a company) When they picked me up the following day I had a pleasant ride with the shuttle driver and i was greeted yet again with a smile from the staff and a clean and organized waiting room. I have to say you guys are the best in the business and my car runs better than ever. Murphy`s Auto Care goes above and beyond to make sure your car is fixed right and that you as a customer are 100% satisfied. I will never take any of my vehicles anywhere but Murphy`s. Thank you again so much!!

Bad prices, worse service
I went to this shop because it was AAA certified, but that apparently means less than I thought. The clutch in my Ranger stopped working suddenly, so I had it towed in. They replaced my slave cylinder and clutch, and called me two days after I dropped it off to pick it up. The truck was completely undrivable, apparently the clutch hadn`t been bled at all--with the clutch pedal on the floor, would drive forward at goo... view mored speed.
They gave me a loaner van and I came back the next day. There was a very, very loud exhaust noise and the heaeter no longer worked--when it`s 15 degrees, I like a working heater. Took it back AGAIN and they fixed the exhaust leak--they had put the clamps on upside down--and fixed the heater, but they charged me $100 for the heater because a vacuum hose just ""happened"" to go out during the initial repair.
There was a 20,000 mile warranty on the work, but after 14,000 miles the clutch started to go again. This time they told me it would be a new master cylinder, and quoted me a hugely inflated price to install a new one--$550. The only reason I even went was because I was under warranty, and they definitely weren`t getting any more of my money. I had the master cylinder replaced at Monro (who always treats me well) for less than half what they quoted.
A thousand miles later, my clutch is terrible again, and I`m sure it`s something that Murphy`s did. Various mechanics have said it acts like a pressure plate issue, but Murphy`s claim it is a synchro. Only there`s no possible way it could be a synchro when one of the symptoms is the truck driving forward in first with the clutch on the floor. Even though it`s supposed to be under warranty, they quoted me $600 labor just to pull the transmission and diagnose the problem--and I was talking directly to the owner. Avoid Murphy`s like the plague, they cost twice as much as anyone else and they do terrible work.
