Did not have good results. The...
Did not have good results. They say they are lady friendly, which may be true, but males beware, obviously they dont care about male customers! Anyway, I was getting tired of these shops around Monroe screwing people. I heard a few good things about A1 Auto Repair....the only thing people said about it that they are good but a little on expensive side. So when I had a exhaust leak I decided to go up there and get... view more it fixed. It sounded like a exhaust leak from collector (manifold meets the pipe). I dropped car off the night before and the next day they called me said it was going to cost $350 to fix exhaust. The lady the called told me that the exhaust leak it from tailpipe and muffler section and it is $350 to fix it. (which is about $110 high on price). This car is just my work car so I was kind of reluctant to spend the money........then I thought of what other people said that A1 is good but expensive. So I figured, well just let them fix it at least it would be fixed right. They called later said car was done. Went to pick up car. Had girlfriend drop me off and I went inside to pay. Only after I showed up did Brandy (?) say that there is still an little exhaust leak and mechanic will talk to me about it. Confused but opened minded to see what he is going to say and show me. NOW EVERYONE STOP FOR A SECOND........does that make sense??? When you drop a car off for repair, and you say here, I am not a mechanic, please look at my car it has a exhaust leak and tell me how much is it going to cost to fix the car so there is no leak, and they call you and tell you it $350 to fix it .......you would think after you give them the go-ahead to fix it there would not be a leak! Anyway, mechanic show me a little hole that is piece of pipe around middle of exhaust. Tells me for another $100 he can fix it. He said car isnt that loud. To me it didnt seem loud but of course I was inside a shop with other people working so it kind of drowned out noise. At this point im running late for work, I paid and kept my mouth shut because I had to leave and I was not happy. I paid higher price to fix exhaust only for them to call me and say its fixed and then when I show up it still has a mystery leak. NEXT DAY........I was out of town so my girlfriend was on the same level as me, she figured you paid $350 to fix a exhaust leak and it still leaks. So she brought it up there. They basically told her, he is male he should of KNOWN that we have to replace obvious leaks first THEN if its leaking somewhere else thats an extra charge. Complete BS. After they give you a quote to repair something as easy as a exhaust, they are not suppose to charge extra because they screwed up. Its not like they were quoting me for a internal engine problem and it they find something eles wrong tearing it down it may cost extra! Anyways, they offered to repair it again for $40 instead of the original $100. If she didnt bring it back up there for me I was going to file complaint with the State that was for sure. But, they finally fixed it right.
Best thing to do for now on, is get everything in writing before you ok a repair job. Sucks you cant even trust a local shop.
