"Your Performance Authority on all Amc/Mopar"
Dr. Mopar`s High Performance is located ? 2 miles from beautiful downtown Burlington, NC. ? We are a family owned and operated business specializing on all Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep/Amc vehicles. Our family ? has over 50 years of working on Amc/Mopar products. The origin of Dr. Mopar`s High Performance began with Grandpa "Pappy" John Ketteman, in Benton, IL.? ? ? Pappy ? was not only a die hard Mopar man, he was also a great innovator and entrepreneur . Besides operating the Gulf Service station with his wife and 12 kids, and helping Southern Illinois` largest Dodge dealer;Stotlar Motors, he also took time to pursue many business, sports, and political ventures. He coached everything from little league baseball, to the Ketteman family softball team. Pappy was ? Southern Illinois` largest distributor of the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Pappy also ran numerous campaigns for Precinct Committeeman. He also found time to enjoy his love of gambling and fishing. The service station became a hot spot for craps, poker, and his favorite; washer pitching; which he was a master of. Aside from his deep love of black Chryslers; of which he had many, he loved his family dearly and did what was necessary to ? take care of 9 boys and 3 girls.? ? It wasn`t uncommon for Pappy`s shop to have many well known people stop in and pay a visit. Such as, Anthony "Andy" Granatelli;the CEO for STP, George Harrison of the Beatles, John Malkovich(actor from such films as Con Air, In the Line of Fire) and his family frequented the station. Also many well known sports athletes, such as; Doug Collins famous NBA basketball player and coach, Rich Yunkus famous for his scoring record at Georgia Tech. ? Grand Ole Opry star Billy Grammar also spent time hanging out with Pappy. Famous politicians such as Paul Simon, also visited the shop.? ? In October of 1971, Pappy decided to sell the service station in order to pursue other business pursuits in Mt. Vernon, IL. Pappy`s eldest son Raymond(otherwise known as the beast), worked at Stotlar Dodge as the head parts man and mechanic. To this day he can still recall the factory part numbers as if the book was right in front of him. Pappy`s son John went to unfortunately work for ? the Benton Ford Dealer as a mechanic/paint and body. John owned just about every performance car that was available at the time. He could go through a motor or transmission with his eye`s shut.? ? Pappy passed away on April 9, 1993. He never was able to see his grandson, Chris"Doc"Ketteman carry on his legacy.
