Stereotypical Scammer Mechanics

These guys are your stereotypical scammer mechanics. I took my vehicles here for oil changes in the past. I live in an apartment complex, otherwise I`d change my own oil. I guess they assume that since I use a mechanic, I don`t know anything about cars. Every time I took my car for an oil change they offered a free tire rotation (how generous). This gave them an excuse to ""examine"" my brakes. They would come ... view moreback and state that my brakes were in a dangerous condition and should be replaced, as well as have my rotors changed. They would quote me double what anyone else would charge, added to the fact that the brakes actually fine. Three times they have tried to get me to replace my brakes--on three different vehicle. Three times, I gone to a family member`s house, removed my wheels and examined the brakes myself. Three times the brakes have been in working order with many, many miles of use left. Bottom line, if you go to Monro for an oil change do not let them sell you on unnecessary work. Find a mechanic you can trust, because you can`t trust these guys. I`ll not be taking another vehicle to Monro again.

terrible place

terrible place. they take advantage of you. I went this weekend and they said I need to change my tires and since i have no experience I asked how long they would last me and one of their guys told me a week. yeah right...then i called my father, he came and checked and they were good atleast for a year. after all, I had my oil changed which was the reason why i went to this place and they ended up charging me $60 do... view morellars for it after they told me it was going to be $40. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

BEWARE!!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

I went here for an inspection and they tried to railroad me into buying wipers & tires. I had brand new wipers on the car that i installed days before this! I also needed a muffler so they quoted me a price of $280 which includes labor & parts..just to replace the muffler...no other exhaust part.! I left this place and went to my local Super Deal Tire & Muffler in Wake Forest...he installed a new muffler for $77...he... view more also then did the inspection. Of course he never mentioned that i needed wiper blades....cause i didn`t. Stay away from Monroe....I highly recommend Super Tire & Muffler.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE

I took my vehicle in for an oil change and a state inspection on a Saturday at noon-thirty knowning that it would be a while before they would get to it. They said, ""two hours."" Fine, not a big deal as I had my friend follow me in my other car to give me a ride. At about ten minutes before four, that`s three hours, I get a call stating that I needed new wiper blades. I asked if I could see the state inspection ... view moremanual where it said the requirements of wiper blades but they said that they wouldn`t show it to me. They also said if I wanted my car done I`d just have to get them because they wouldn`t do the rest of the inspection. I would have bought new blades, but since, amazingly, the man who does the inspection left at four, only a few minutes before they called me, I was left with no choice but to have it done. This is raliroading into service in its worse form. Do NOT take your vehicle here. They will force their services on you and then tell you there are things wrong with your car that are not. Find somewhere else in the Briar Creek area to take your vehicles, PLEASE!

too long / nothing wrong with my car

I have had my oil changed here several times and each time they have put on the ""report card"" for my vehcile that there is something wrong that is not. Sometimes I have just had the item attended to that they say is broken! do not trust mechanics in general, but this place will try to get every penny out of you!

Great service

I liked that i was was treated with respect and cursity while i was there. I feel it was done in a quick fashion it would have taken alot longer at the dealer.

Rude Manager, charge extra for oil filter which is normally not

On 5/28/07. I took my car in for an oil changed at Monro Muffler Brake at 8811 Brier Creek Parkway, Raleigh, NC 27617. 919-806-3493 this is the 3rd times that I took the car in for oil change. But this time I was charged with a $29 oil changed bill.

Previously, I paid $21. What the manager Mike A Haller told me was that since the filter is not in stock. They have to get it somewhere else and I have to ... view morepay for it. Even though he made no mention of it when I took the car in, he told me that It?s not his problem that the inventory is not correct, he forcefully points out that it?s a waste of time to check the inventory, it slows his crew down, it still took 1.5 hours for my oil change. He got the nerve and demanded that I paid the bill or else he?ll just put my old oil filter and the old oil back in. I had to argue with him until another customer came in. His tone sure changed fast. I was amaze that he try to slam me with additional extra charges too. $2.25 recycle fee, $3 for extra qt oil, $2.16 shop fee $3.00 for oil filter. I could have got the oil change done at the dealership for $30 out the door. I think more people need to hear about this in the Raleigh NC area. I love Monro before but with this Mike Haller character. I would have to think twice to take my car there again.
