They did the work I asked but....
Overcharged at every turn they had a chance to do so. Had ignition coil replaced on my Cadillac (a repair I have had done on a different cylinder a year before) and was given a price originally of 325.00 ($75 more than the last repair shop but was ok with that). Long story short, final repair cost for coil was $365 plus $39 misc shop supplies charge for a total for $150 over what a different shop charged just a year... view more earlier. I called back to ask just what this charge consist of and was told, and I quote, "you know...everything that is in the shop". So I asked what is "everything? Such as...." And was informed "everything such as tools, towels....ummmm things they use in the shop".
Anyway, my car is repaired which I`m glad it is done. It just a shame they overcharge to begin with and then mask in another "shop supply fee" on top of everything. If they`re charging $39 to 25 customers for supplies, then someone here is extremely messy and cant keep up with their tool, or someone is putting some serious cash in their pocket. My bet is on the latter.

Never again!
I took my car in with ac problems. They told me all it needed was freon, but it also needed over $500 worth of other crap. After their persistsnce we had some of the, un needed, repairs done. One week later the air conditioning still doesn`t work. This is the why this buisness was gets a bad reputation. They ripped me off and the problem I origanlly brought it in with is still there. What a place! Fixed my car, saved me $300.00 from the dealer, gave me free road side assistance, had a huge waiting room with a comfy couch that I fell in love with while on their free wi-fi. If you`re going somewhere else, you shouldn`t. Try Carolina Tire for all your auto repair in Charlotte, NC. I do and love them.

Editorial review from Citysearch
100% honest folks here. I took my car in because it wouldn`t start. I feel dumb saying that it was out of gas, but it was. Carolina Tire & Auto could have told me anything and I would have bought it. They didn`t. By the way, the towing was 100% reimbursable. Better than AAA as I don`t have to pay for it, just going to Carolina Tire gets me it for free. I took my Mercedes there for it`s service A, 100% on time, lower ... view moreprice than the dealer and all my lights were reset. When you say Carolina Tire, you`ve said it all. Best in the business as they do it right every time I`m in there.

Carolina Tire & Auto - America`s Best
I`m so tired of the big box, foreign owned tires with their big ads offering one thing and then trying to talk me into another.
Welcome Carolina Tire & Auto. Thank you so much for your time in educating me on my car. Your prices were spot on, destroyed the car dealership prices and even beat Tire Rack.
I can`t thank Carolina Tire enough, great job. Keep up the great work doing excellent auto repair in Charlotte... view more.

----Ripped Off----
I ordered online and was charged on my credit card for 3 ""new"" Maxxis trailer tires. This charge, as listed on my credit card statement, was from Carolina Tire & Auto, Pineville, NC. The tires I received had a DOT manufacture date code of 4709 (November 2009). I called the customer service phone number listed on my invoice and spoke with several people at Carolina Tire & Auto to include the owner, Jim Seidel. Sever... view moreal emails were also exchanged. When I explained the situation with the tires being 2.5 years and not ""new"", I was told several stories about the tires like: the tires have a 6 year shelf life before installation, the tires are manufactured in Asia and therefore have a very long shipment time before arriving in the US, tires are at least 1 year old before we even see them, etc. Upon speaking with Maxxis Tire Corporate directly, it was relayed to me that their tires have a 5 year Warranty from the date of manufacture. They also stated that it only takes a few weeks for a production run of tires to reach the US. So the ""new"" tires as described and I thought I purchased are already halfway through their warranty period and the stories I was given by Carolina Tire & Auto are false. Mr Seidel offered to ""try to send me fresher tires"" but I had to pay the return shipping. I refused as it was requested by me in the original order to ship tires with a manufacture date of 2012 or at least later 2011 and secondly it is not my fault you shipped tires manufactured in November 2009. He stated he was truly sorry for my situation but they have thin margins and from their perspective they fulfilled their obligation in the transaction by shipping the tires ordered in a timely fashion. Wonderful customer service. So now I have filed complaints with my credit card company and also with the BBB against Carolina Tire & Auto. Note: Every tire sold in the US is required to have a DOT manufacture date code stamped into it on one side and usually installers put that side toward the inside. It will look like: DOT then some numbers and letters but at the end will be 4 distinct numbers like ""4709"" as in my case. The first 2 are the week the tire was made (47th week = Nov) and the last 2 numbers are the year (2009). You may want to start checking this date on ""new"" tires purchased so you dont end up in my situation. This review is a fair and completely accurate account of my experience with Carolina Tire & Auto. I can provide proof of every detail listed above if requested.

Carolina Tire & Auto Saved my Car from Ruin
The guys at the car dealership literally wanted $5,000 to fix my Lexus. I had catalytic converter problems. Knowing that the car wasn`t worth that (it`s a 1997), I called around. I saw the great reviews that Carolina Tire had. I was so impressed with Jim and his store. They found the same issues as the dealer (Lexus said only they could do this), make a recommendation to fix the catalytic with aftermarket parts and f... view moreixed my leaking engine. All less than 1/2 than the dealer and it only took 1 day. I am soooo thankful for Carolina Tire & Auto for saving me and my wallet. I`m here for life.

Carolina Tire is my New Home for my F150
I`ve been frustrated with the likes of Firestone or Tire Kingdom. So by chance I stopped by Carolina Tire as I needed a new set of tires. Mind you, I`ve already researched the heck out of the Michelin LTX and knew the lowest price. I`ll tell you what, Carolina Tire knows how to do business. The service manager walked out to my truck, confirmed my size, made me up a few quotes and quoted me the LTX. How about that for... view more right on? No less, he had the best price in Charlotte on this tire. I was out under an hour. I also found out that they have a very cool repair shop, I`m scheduled for brakes next week. Go to Carolina Tire without hesitation, you`ll be impressed.

Best Rover Repair in Charlotte
I took my 2008 Land Rover HSE to them for a roar in the rear differential because they said they could fix it. BTW, I called the Rover dealership in Charlotte and they would only replace my whole rear end of my HSE. As I understand it, Carolina Tire had a tool made that needed to get the job done and then drove to Columbia, SC for some needed parts. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty.
The noise... view more is gone and I am a 100% satisfied customer with Carolina Tire & MotorWerks of South Charlotte.

They Were Fine Up Until They Tried To Rip Off My Wife
Carolina Tire were good, they serviced 3 vehicles for myself, my wife and my wife`s parents.
No more, they lost all 3.
My wife brought her car in for a check on a `noise` she heard. They test drove it, and put it on the lift and told her that she needed 2 new motor mounts (on a 2006 Acura TL mind you)
We got a 2nd opinion, from Acura themselves, who were unaware of the previous diagnostic. All 4 motor mounts were... view more 100% fine. They found nothing, and no noise either.
Obviously, Carolina Titre (Doug specifically) tried to make an easy $600 on us. He failed. He also lost the business of 3 families. Good job Doug.
