I was told by the VW dealership that I needed frame work on my car. After going to a collision center to get an estimate, the estimator told me I was in the wrong place. I needed to go see Eddie at Gaston`s Garage. So, I drove right over there. Everyone I talked to at Gaston`s has always been very courteous and helpful! Eddie was wonderful! Rude, pricey and doesn`t appear to want more business
Needed vehicle`s air conditioner repaired . Gaston`s garage is on my way to and convenient to my work. So I stopped in today to inquire about having my vehicle repaired. There were no customers at the counter but there was a gentleman who I took to be the owner, manager or certainly someone with whom I could explain my situation and discuss the repair.

I greeted the gentleman by saying ""how are you"" to wh... view moreich he replied in a deadpan, rude way, ""busy"". Told him I promised not to take too much of his time. He didn`t respond or acknowledge I had said a word.

I explained my situation. He sat there as if he had no interest in answering me or had even heard what I said. He then keyed a bit on his computer keyboard still without saying a word. Whatever he was looking for was displayed on the screen and with all the excitement and energy of a person taking his last breath mumbled so may hundred dollars to remove and install the part and so many hundred dollars to recharge the system.

I asked how much lead time he would need to get the repair scheduled. He answered in the same dull, disinterested manner. I thanked him and left.

The price was excessive. His attitude was horrible. He did nothing to encourage me to bring him my business and was most possibly relieved that he didn`t have to worry with a new customer.

There are many, many garages in the area that would appreciate your business, express that appreciation and at a much more competitive price.

Avoid this place. Go to someone who wants your business.

Don`t trust them with your car
Customer service is the worst. They are really rude especially the owner. He doesn`t know how to talk to people.

I asked for an oil change and tire rotation. I watched the owner through the window and he changed my oil (I guess) but did not rotate my tires, but checked that it was done.

Because I bought my tires from there and get a free tire rotations I decided to take my car back but decided I would ... view moreonly let them rotate my tires because it`s was free and I don`t trust them to do anything else to my car. Well big mistake he knocked my car out of align so bad. I will never go back there again and I will just pay for my tire rotation.

Labor costs very excessive and unreasonable
Several months ago, my alternator and alternator fan belt failed after being on my truck for eight years. I had been recovering from surgery and procrastinated about the repair until suddenly needing to use the truck the following day. Due to the circumstances, I decided to use Gaston`s, a new auto repair facility near my home. I took the truck to Gaston`s and told the service manager the problem. Shortly thereaf... view moreter, a guy named Eddie walked out to my vehicle. Without introducing himself, he made a comment about my Exide battery, one I had bought at Sam`s, inferring it was substandard. I told him the battery was fine, but I believed an alternator bearing had frozen, resulting in a belt failure. He said he could fix it and I returned home, where I waited for twenty minutes or so before receiving a call from the service manager regarding repair costs. He said it would cost at least $400 dollars to replace the alternator and recommended changing the other belts. I thought that seemed high, but told him I needed the truck the following morning and to go ahead with the repair. I also asked him to do an oil change.. When I went to pick up the truck, my bill was approximately $450 total, $240 of it labor...and that was with their so called neighborhood discount. When I asked if it took 2.5 hours(of 3 hours total labor) to replace the alternator, the service manager, who looked a bit surprised that I had questioned the charge, replied ""that`s what the book calls for"" Frankly, when I received the estimate, I figured the alternator was the major cost and was shocked at the labor cost. I told the service manager that the alternator had been replaced before and, on that occasion, it took the mechanic, with some difficulty, 45 minutes at most. I told him I was not going to quibble over price, paid him, and left, feeling very much ripped off. I`m no mechanic by a long shot, but have replaced a similarly situated alternator on a previous Japanese built vehicle in my driveway without a lift and it took me an hour and a half at best. It`s not a difficult repair, involving no more than several bolts. I just don`t see how it could take a trained mechanic, with a lift, more than thirty minutes. It will be my last visit. I`ve since been referred to Imperial in Cary and have discovered Imperial to have very reasonable charges. Plus, Imperial will come to your home, tow your vehicle back to their garage, repair the vehicle, and return the vehicle to your home. There is no charge for the towing service.
