I dropped a classic car off to have an intake gasket replaced and to have the timing checked and a alternator wire replaced. There were no other cars being worked on at the time. It was my understanding that the car wouldd be finished the same day or next day. After not hearing from Mountain muffler the next day I called the business, multiple times and drove by multiple times, left several messages. After 5 days I ... view morefinally found someone there that had just started to work on the car. I received a call that the car was finished the next day. Upon arrival I noticed the alternator wire wasnt replaced, and when I dorve the car it ran mush worse than it did when I dropped it off. I paid the bill which seemed excessive, 250.00 dollars. Upon retuning home the I noticed the firewall (hand rubbed laquer base/clear was scratched from removing the intake) I checked the timing and it was at 24 degrees base timing (WAY WAY to high) and the intake was leaking worse that it was when I took it to be repaired. I tried to call several times, and a fax machine kept picking up. I sent a very polite fax stating that I was having to repair the repairs that I paid mountain muffler to perform. I stated that I thought a refund of about 100.00 would be more than fair. I never heard anything back, so I called them, I was told to bring it back and they would replace the leaking gasket. I then noticed that the one of the intake threads was stripped on the carburator mounting surface. I tried to call again and the fax answered. I sent another fax explaining the problem with the stripped intake thread and explaining that I would just repair it with the help of a very professional mechanic friend and that I would rather have a partial refund for having to redo the repairs. I supplied my address etc. I have yet to see any refund.

After wrecking my 4WD SUV, I was more concerned about getting the vehicle back on the road before winter than I was about the body work. The guys at the shop assured me that the vehicle would run great and look great, for about $1700.00. Because this was a front end collision, I had concerns about the radiator, the electronics, and the battery ?ˆ“ all of which were dislodged on impact. I was assured, numerous times, t... view morehat all would be well before they were done with my vehicle. When I went to pick up my car, it was running outside the shop and sounded good. I asked again about the radiator, electronics, etc, and was assured that all was well. I wrote my check (just over $2000.00 in all) and drove my car home. That`s when I noticed the alignment was severely off... ...and when I arrived home, in my garage, I noticed the license plates were missing from my car. When I called the shop, I was told that the license plates were already off my car when the car first arrived at the shop. I was also told I would have to bring the car to someone else for an alignment. When I drove back up to the shop to ask them to look around for my license plate ?ˆ“ maybe they were mistaken ?ˆ“ maybe someone removed them for some reason... ??? Well, my license plate was on the mechanic`s car ?ˆ“ the same one that I talked to on the phone that told me the plates were never on my car. He made up some story about how someone must have stolen his license plate and replaced it with mine so he wouldn`t notice. (Funny how that could have happened if my license plate was missing before the car ever arrived at the shop.) A week later, in my garage, I`m still trying to get the battery charged up and still can`t get the car to start. Someone comes to help, and noticed that the battery connectors are bad... we take the battery to the store where it`s under warranty, they test it and tell me its good. We buy new battery connectors, replace them, fasten the battery down (which the mechanics failed to do), and my car starts. We check the fluids, add coolant, and watch the coolant pour out onto the ground as fast as we can pour it in... ...then I think back to the mechanic telling me the radiator was fine, how he seemed to be in a hurry, and how he cashed my check at my bank within an hour of the time I wrote it... I`m sitting here at the end of December, with a car that was wrecked on November 2nd, still wondering how I`ll get to work if it snows next week. I finally got the car to start last night, with help from a friend, but the car won`t stay running ?ˆ“ maybe from sitting for so long... but even if it did stay running, I can`t let it run too long because I still need to find someone to replace this radiator. Will I ever go back to Mountain Muffler & Automotive? No. Would I ever send friends up there? No.
