Fraudulent practices

We had our brakes done here for the same price as the dealership. Our brakes were scraping afterward, so we took it back and left it for a whole day. They said they just needed to be used a little more. After taking it to another shop and having to replace the roters b/c of their work, we were given the pads back and THEY WERE GENERIC PARTS NOT HONDA. They lied to us.

Be ware of their price

Got an Acura with bad Brake-Light-Switch. Dealer quoted $51 (parts, labor, and tax). Called Tao, $140 + TAX. Needless to say, no go. Did myself $16.06. :-)

So Long Tao

I have gone to Tao for over 10 years but no more. Took my car in bc ac not working quote ranged between $1800-$2800. Took my car today to Mission Valley Auto Service, got AC fixed with a new compressor for $600. Took my husbands car to Tao for the AC to be re-charged, Tao charged $150, the place that fixed my car charges $69 for same service. The reason my next car will be a honda

I bought an Eclipse, but quickly discovered, there are no mechanics local that compare to Tao. Tao recommended someone on North Raleigh I`ll have to try.

Tao had worked on our `97 Civic and `03 CR-V. They have always explained exactly what was necessary, and been quick and helpful. They have fixed several small issues for free. The only thing I haven`t been happy about was the replacement of the Catalytic i... view moren the CR-V. Not their fault, but they only use factory original for that.

When something starts to go wrong, and we ask, they have a good track record about how the issue will progress until fixed. Eg CR-V throwing check engine light after long trips when Cat was going bad, Blower fan getting progressively worse on 97 civic when had to ""bump start"" it with a mallet, etc.

When I thought the AC went out on the civic, and it was going to cost more than the car was worth, Tao said they would check it out. It was only an electrical issue they fixed for far less.

When my Moms toyotas computer went bad, they said they could fix it for $900, but said toyota ""might"" cover it even though out of warranty, they helped organize a tow truck to take it to a dealer, and it was fixed for free, and tao didn`t even charge for all their time and effort.

Most honest mechanic

I would give these guys 10 stars. My 2003 Honda completely lost air conditioning and they could have ripped me off royally. Instead Tao told me to haggle with Honda even though the warranty was 2000 miles over the limit. The Tao guys told me that this is a particular problem with my year and model.
I took my car to Honda and they paid for 90% of a bill that would have cost close to $1800. I just came from L.A.... view more where I know they would have tried to rip me off. ( I put my last mechanic`s kid through medical school.)
I`m almost afraid to recommend Tao for fear of having to wait a week the next time my car needs service . They may become too popular and they could have had me pay a sizeable sum for repairs...instead they took the high road and I am amazed by their integrity and honesty.

They really do know their stuff.

Refreshingly Honest

I had a lot of trouble with noise and a bumpy ride on my car. I asked Tao (Cary) to do what ever was necessary to fix it - replace struts, brakes, shocks - any thing! When I returned, the manager said ""no charge, you need to get a better set of tires"".

Most of the repair shops in this area, including the dealers would have replaced ""everything"" and charged a fortune.

Best for Hondas...PERIOD

A couple years ago my 91 Honda CRX started randomly cutting off on me. I could be going down the highway and lose all power. Or maybe it just wouldn`t start on a certain day. I took it to Tao and they could have told me anything and I would have believed them. It was a loose wire. Total parts + labor = $22. I got a 00 Honda Civic recently and I refuse to take it anywhere else. They are the best!

TAO AUTO has very poor customer service!

Tao needs to work on their customer service. I have not found them to be responsive. They are short on the phone and not very helpful. They consistently take on too many repair jobs and don`t get to my car in a timely way. I had to rent a car for 4 days because they couldn`t get to my repair. I went to the TAO in Raleigh. When I called to make an appointment, they said we don`t make appointments just bring it i... view moren and we serve cars on a first come, first served basis. How do they know he came first if people are dropping their cars off the night before. My car sat there for most of the day. I never received a call to discuss the estimate I requested. I finally called them after the time I indicated that I needed my car, and they had not even looked at the area I requested. When I got there they wanted to charge me $40 to tell me about a repair that I told them I needed. I will not go back to TAO again.

Great job

To tell you why I will continue to bring my Honda to Tao Auto, I should tell you about the repair places that could not fix the problems that Tao diagnosed and fixed the first time. 1) Honda dealer. Claimed my Air conditioner was not even broken, claiming that this model year of Civic had a weak AC. I wasnt expecting a call until the next day. 2) A guy who owned a Honda racing team and Honda repair shop. This guy knew Hondas inside out, yet despite two trips to his shop, he could not ""reproduce"" the problem (i.e., wasnt willing to spend enough time with my car). Tao also quicky diagnosed and fixed this problem.

They know Hondas!

The Cary Tao Auto does a great job with our Honda Accord. They can diagnose problems that would leave other repair shops scratching their head. Sometimes they seem a little too busy.
