This place is freakin awesome!
They always take my car in right away! They do great work compared to the other local shops...trust me I`ve done my homework! Too bad it took me so long to find the right place. What really works for me are the long hours of operation and the call ahead pick up and drop off service. They are definitely my go to people when I need my car fixed from now on. Got my car back and running great in 2 days when I thought it ... view morewould take a week or more!! So happy! Thanks again to everyone at Uptown!

Fast & Painless
Called to arrange inspection & oil change. They said to just bring it in and it would take about an hour and they gave me the cost as well. They were true to their word & there were no surprises. They told me how much wear my brakes and tires had. A good find in the neighborhood.

Quick State Inspection Service
Came in for a state inspection and was out the door, on my way in under 15 mins. Nice to see an honest auto repair shop in New York City!

***RIP OFF***
Needed an oil change so I called this place. First thing the guy asked me was what kind of car do you have. What kind of car do I have, what does it matter? I asked again, how much to change my oil. He said it depends on the car. There is no difference in changing oil between a $40K car and a $100K car but his prices change depending on if he sees you coming with money or not. Stay away this guy wont be aroiund... view more too long.

I use these guys all the time
Uptown takes my car without an appointment all the time. They do a good job and always try and get my car back by the end of the day. As far as auto repair shops go, these guys are the best around.

Little respect for customers! Replace parts that did not nee
This was my third visit to this shop. Short version: Parts I specifically said not to replace were replaced, I was give NO explanation as to why. I was treated RUDELY and questioned WHY I needed an explanation. If you are the type of car owner who doesn`t mind being treated rudely, has money to waste and doesn`t know any better, this place is perfect for you. Long version: I have a 2000 toyota. Its a great car, but I... view more plan on donating it in a few months. However, being a good car owner, I wanted it tuned up and checked out. I typically get my car looked at in NJ at an STS with floor to ceiling glass windows and mechanics who both listen and are more than happy to show customers the parts that are being replaced, and explain the bill. Yesterday, 8/13, I brought my car to Uptown. I called ahead and got an estimate of $350 plus parts for a tune-up. As this was my third visit, I was not suprised by the price. But given my schedule, I thought it was worth it in time savings. I was wrong ... When I dropped off the car, I specfically mentioned that I just had both the battery and the spark plugs replaced. This particular corolla requires particular type of spark plugs and they are pricey. (I don`t know why, but I verified this information through several reputable sources.) I specifically stated to the gentleman who took my car that the spark plugs are brand new (replaced in March 2010) and did not need to be replaced. I also said call me before any work is done, I don`t want to spend any more than $350. I spoke with Andy, the owener that afternoon, we agree the cost is $350 with minimal cost for parts. I remind Andy that I don`t need spark plugs and I am donating the car and do not want to spend much over $350. I get told ""OK"" I pick up the car today, 8/14/10. At first I am told by the woman at the counter that she doesn`t know where my car is - she only works there on Saturdays. I say OK and go outside and find my car parked on the street. When I go back inside the office, I am handed the bill. My bill is over $430! When I ask for an explanation, I get ""blown off."" I start to review it and ask specific questions, i.e. why was I charged for ""plugs""? I get told to ""calm down."" (I was very calm.) Finally, the woman`s husband, who is the shop manager comes in. All he says is that he doesn`t know what was done on my car but the charge is for new spark plugs. This is irritating since the bill only lists costs and doesn`t say what was done! I ask to see the ""plugs"" that were replaced. He can only find 3 out of 4. I look at them and they are BRAND NEW! I say as much and ask: why would you replace a brand new part and then bill for it? I get a ""line"" - customers just want new ones. I state that I specifically spoke with Andy and the intake guy and said not to replace them. I ask to speak with Andy and get told he is not there. I then get told to pay the bill or they will not release my car. I told them it was unacceptable and they need to give my back my spark plugs and give me a credit for a part I told them not to replace. Ultimately, I get a credit for my missing spark plug and a credit for the cost for the new spark plugs. I will never come back here; I`d rather wait around an STS in NJ where my questions will be answered and I will not be treated disrespectfully. Not to mention, $350 for tuneup is expensive. I know its Manhattan, but its not Dubai!

Don`t go here
If you`re fixing your car on the upper east side, then price isn`t your big concern. These guys are expensive like every other local shop, but the service is horrible. They put a deep gash in the hood of my car about two by two inches. When I pointed it out the manager lied to my face about how his guys ""don`t do that"". Beyond that, both the inside and outside of the car were left filthy, with grease on the steerin... view moreg wheel and upholstery. I went to these guys looking for a cheaper alternative and learned a serious lesson. If you want really great service on the upper east side, go to either Sports & Classics on east 73rd, they are fantastic, or use Autobahn on east 91st street.
