love these guys!
i moved to lansing from california 5 yrs ago, and this monro has been my mechanic ever since. they have always been honest and have always clearly explained what was needed, consequences or lack of consequences. they are very thorough with their explanations, and not at all pushy, and have always been honest in letting me know what work may be coming up soon, and would let me know if something was or was not importan... view moret. they are very good about looking out after their customers as well. they also were very helpful with hints on how to drive in the snow. i cant say enough good things about these guys...

These Guys are Great
Forget about what the other blow-hards have written. Who knows what their problem is. Whenever I call they get me in as soon as possible. They tell me what the problem is, they show it to me. They tell me I can put someting off for a while if my expenses don`t allow me to fit it in the budget at that time. Then they do the job right. If there is a glitch I just bring the car back and they make it right.
They are n... view moreice and friendly. They show an interest in their customers and always complete the work when promised. I get special discount offers in the mail all the time and it is really helpful when you get a reminder and coupon just when your oil change or winter service is due.
They have great warranties which are good at any of their shops. When I bought my last used car in the winter I brought it in and they checked it out and said how long I had left on the tires and that the brakes weren`t in the best of shape. Sure enough the next fall the tires were too worn and needed replacement. They gave me a year on the brakes and that is just about when it was obvious to me that they needed replacing. They were right on Check them out. You won`t be sorry. Listen to what they are telling you.

Deceptive or Unprofessional Practices
Only asked for an oil change, but they decided to rotate tires on a car where you cannot rotates tires. Then - surprise surprise, they tell me there are problems with my tires when I pay for the oil change. Don`t go here...they try to pressure you for unnecessary repairs (they did it to the lady in front of me too) and from what I`ve read on these rating boards so far, I am not alone!

DON""T GO THERE
They damaged my glass and will not admit fault. They also try to con you into expensive fixes-AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS

Unscrupulous business practices
Everytime I`ve gone to Monroe for car problems, they draw up an estimate of around $2000 on work that needs to be done (I have a fairly new car mind you that to this day still has never given me any trouble). Being a student of limited means, I asked them about which items absolutely needed to be taken care of right away. Their tone changed right away and made me feel horrible about not being to spend thousands on ... view moremy car. They threatened to not let me leave, claiming that it would be too dangerous for me to drive my car home.
These mechanics will say anything to make a buck. All they care about the bottom line, making you to agree to as much work as possible.

charge you for work you don`t need
I know a lot about cars and I try to test these mechanics as I am new in town and want to get a feel for their expertise. They are sweet talkers. They make you think that you need more work than you need for your car.
For example, the guy might give you a history of why people need a new muffler and all the accidents that result from something you don`t do.
I highly recommend you go to Sears Automotive ins... view moretead, they are more honest (mechanics are non trustworthy to begin with, but atleast they have some decent people working there- especially on the weekends).
