worst mechanic experience
I had my car towed to wilcox on a Saturday. By the following Saturday, they had spent four hours on my car, and had no plans to continue working on it. (the dashboard and stereo were hanging by wires, and the screws were thrown around the floor of my car). I had to have my car towed to another mechanic (with the dash removed and a flat tire). They told me they had more important customers!
They told me they would ho... view moreld my car and refuse to release it to me unless I paid $350 even though in seven days they had only removed my dash, with no plan to fix anything.
They charged me $175 to get my keys back. I am horrified that they treat people this way. You are much better off elsewhere!

great work
they have very good mechanics, all of the mechanics know what they are doing. They are very helpfule and try to explane what is wrong with the car. Even the people out front are nice. I would defitly take my car or truck.

Honest, Courteous, Great work and FAIR price!
I came back to Ithaca from New Hampshire for a small gathering of old classmates. I was in my BMW 740i when in Richford my idler pulley broke for my water pump. I had the car towed to Wilcox Tire per a recommendation. Kelly who works for Wilcox tire worked hard at trying to find parts for this the same day but there was nothing local or within 60 miles that wasn`t special order. I was able to locate the parts back he... view morere at Stratham BMW and had a person that was traveling this way bring them to me in Ithaca. I put the parts in the car and left the keys in the key envelope provided by Wilcox out front for dropping cars off after hours. My note was quite detailed as this was my Beemer and wanted to make sure it was treated as such. Kelly called me on Monday and said the car was all done. When I asked what the damage was I was floored at the price. $95.00 to balance 4 tires, clean up the engine area where fluid had leaked, repairs the damaged pulley. Now what would another shop do? I don`t know but they could have easily taken advantage of the situation. I recommend going to Wilcox Tire and speaking to Kelly and Steve to have you car repaired. They will tell you exactly what the issue are and what it cost period. No BS there. Great shop, great people.

Nothing Unnecessary!
Willcox Automotive is GREAT. Being a woman, one of the last things in the world that I like to do is go get my car repaired. Let`s face it: Most car places treat women like second-class citizens... and try to take advantage of their perceived naivety. I am NOT naive when it comes to cars. AND I have been known to pull my car right out of a garage when I perceive that they are trying to take advantage of me.

With that said: The staff at Willcox DO NOT talk down to women. They give it to you straight and they give it to you at a unbeatable price. Example: I was quoted $1100 for a repair on my truck by another garage here in town (MIDAS!), was disgusted by the quote and then brought it to Willcox. Willcox was able to do the repair for $600 and I had my truck back by the end of the day.
If you are looking for frills and are willing to pay for it, by all means take your business someplace else. But if you are looking for value, straightforwardness, and respect... go to Willcox.

Bad communication within their own business!!!
When I Initially called Wilcox Auto, I was treated very kindly by Tom, but then when my car was actually in there, I was jerked around and everything that made the place of business seem reasonable and the intital reason i chose them over, say HUNTS auto, was retracted by Shane. For example, I was told by Tom that the intial inspection charge of $65 would be put towards the repair charge price, (so if they did repai... view morers, I basically would not have to pay that inspection charge in addition to the repair price). Shane just told me that I would be charged that inspection price, regardless of what other repairs are done. Also, I was told by Tom that if I purchased the caliper cleaning service (adds about $30-40 onto the repair price) while getting my brake pads replaced, I would have a lifetime warrenty on the brake pads. However, Shane just told me that to get the lifetime warrenty, I would also have to purchase rotors, and have them installed. Finally, I was told yesterday when I stopped in that if I dropped my car off today, they`d give me a call with the diagnostics by lunch time, and would definitely have the repair done by the end of the day today. What I was just told on the phone, when I asked if the repairs could be done today, was a hesitant....""uhhhh possibly?"" So now, although it`s lunchtime and they just started looking at it, I will have to end up paying $65 regardless. When I called back and told them to forget about the brakepads and I`d have them done elsewhere, Shane put me on hold, and then told me they already have my brakes out and have cleaned the calipers, although less than 5 minutes previous to that statement, they were only doing a diagnostic inspection and never called to ask my permission to do these repairs!!!! Terrible company, terrible policies, terrible communication, and Shane lied to me just to get money out of he for a repair I did not authorize!!!!
