Bad Services, Dishonest Prices and the Runaround
I called this company at 11:00 AM and arranged for a tow truck to pick up my car at 5:00 PM at my home. I was quoted a price of $85 - a little steep considering that their address listed here is 2 miles from my home and about 4 blocks away from my destination, the Sears Auto Center in Hackensack, but I considered it fair enough.
At 5:15 PM the tow truck had not arrived. I called the dispatcher to ask where m... view morey tow truck was and she hung up on me. Eventually a tow truck arrived at 6:00 PM, a full hour late. Once my car was driven 2 miles to the auto center, the driver charged me $150 - almost double the quoted price.
I called the dispatcher back to question this and she put me through to someone I hadn`t spoken to until then. He claimed he was the actual driver scheduled to pick me up, but since he couldn`t make it his company had contracted the pickup out to ""National Towing"" in Harrison, NJ. I asked him what he was going to do about this and in so many words he said ""Nothing."" I searched the internet and called 411 for National Towing in Harrison, NJ and found nothing, no name and no phone number.
I called the dispatcher back and asked her what they were going to do about this - again, the answer in so many words was ""Nothing."" The dispatcher gave me a different story than the ""real driver"" did, telling me the pickup had been contracted out to ""New Jersey Towing."" I asked for phone numbers and she gave me two, then hung up on me again. One phone number went to voice mail and asked me to leave a message for ""Box 302."" The other number was disconnected. Obviously a search for ""New Jersey Towing"" got me nowhere.
In short, buyers beware of this company. I received terrible service and was ripped off for my troubles, and the well-rehearsed runaround I got afterwards suggests that this is the way they operate every day.
