I was bringing my car here for three years. Thought he was taking good care of me. But just like most people, I have no car knowledge. So, I assumed he was honest. Anyway, I brought my car to him complaining about knocking around my front axle. We went for a drive around the block, and he said it sounded like ball joints. He called later that afternoon and said I need new lower joints for 160 apiece, total 320, and t... view morehat I would have the car back on Monday. I call Monday morning and he tells me that it actually needs lower and upper joints and brake pads, total 600!! I`m still thinking Puma is my guy. So I agree. I pick up my car the next day and the knocking sound is remedied. But as I pull off my abs light comes on. I circle back and tell him. He replies that the wire to the sensor was too old and brittle to not break during the joint replacement and that to fix the problem I need a new hub that cost 200 for the part plus labor. After insisting he is responsible for something that happened from his work he eventually has his guy do what he says is a patch job, and says I still need a new hub. That turns the light off, but then the brakes grind and dont engage properly when i`m driving slowly. This wasn`t happening when I first pulled off when the abs light was on! That`s when I realize his guy is just trying to compound the problem and increase his payoff. I take my car from the garage with the faulty dangerous brakes. After some online research, I, mr. only changed a tire in my lifetime, decided to try the job myself. After reading about people with a similar problem it seemed evident that it was a faulty abs sensor (duh. NOT a hub). I find a YouTube video that takes you through the process and proceed to get the necessary materials. Firstly, the sensor ...... $27!!!!!!!!. Let me repeat....a sensor for $27!!!!!!! Secondly I bought the tools. I made a couple errors along the way so I overspent. But the essential tools probably cost approximately $50. It took a couple days just because I didn`t have the time to allow for mistakes that required new tools. But I finished the job!!! I`m sure an experienced mechanic could have done this in a half hour. I couldn`t believe when I was test driving that I did the job with a part that was almost 20XXXX TIMES!!!!! less than what I was led to believe was necessary. Lord knows what he got me for these last three years. Do not go here
