I have taken my car to several different auto shops in the past only to be disappointed by each one...Great Bear of Woodside is an exception to the rule...Tommy is not only a complete gentleman, but an honest hard working individual with a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding cars and how to fix them no mattet whar model, make, or year...his staff is always on the mark and you feel as if you are dealing with not ... view morejust ""the guy that`s going to fix your car,"" but with friend in the auto business...they are complete pros in everything they do and if you are not completely satisfied with the job they did, they go out of their way to make sure it gets done correctly...again, hats off to Tommy and his staff...I was completely satisfied on all my visits, and they made what usually is a horrid experience for me, a great business pleasure...go there...you won`t be sorry

Great Bear is honestly wonderful. Ive taken my car to several places in the area before I took it here and found great bear to be the best. Since I found it, I haven?ˆ™t taken my car anywhere else. I get outstanding service every time I come here. The guys really know what my car needs and doesn?ˆ™t need. I never felt like they?ˆ™ve been trying to squeeze something in that I don?ˆ™t need (a big problem I have experienced i... view moren other places). The guys are honest and Tommy (one of the guys) is always more than happy to explain why you need a part and what will happen if you don?ˆ™t get it. One time Instead of buying the most expensive tires for my car, Tommy honestly showed me which ones would be the best for my car (this scored big points in my book). Honesty is a big thing for me and Great Bear holds up to those standards. As far as time and price goes, Im in and out in a timely manner or I am told how long it will take and my car is ready at that time, and I get better prices than I did in other locations. Im very happy with great bear and couldn?ˆ™t recommend them anymore, they?ˆ™re friendly helpful and very knowledgeable.

I drive in from Manhattan to see Tommy, owner, to have all of the work done. As a life long resident of Manhattan I`m tired of being ripped off by the shops in Manhattan. Since coming to this shop I receive honest estimates and top quality work. Before at another Great Bear on 26th street in Manhattan, I was charged $56.00 for an inch and a half of 3/8 inch of hose. Now that`s quite a feat since my mini van is a 1995 Voyager. My mini-van run like new thanks to Tommy`s Great Bear of Woodside.

Scam artists! DO NOT TAKE YOUR...

Scam artists! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! I took my car here for a safety inspection since it was so late in the day and I was running out of time. BIG Mistake. They told me to return a hour and half later. When I returned, they said my car cant pass unless I pay them $800 dollars to fix a part on my car. They also claimed my car cant pass because the brake lights were not working due to electrical work. Before I too... view morek my car to the place, my brake lights worked after I left with my car refusing to pay the $800 to fix the car, it stopped working. The next day I took it to a different mechanic and they fixed the issue I was having for less than $50 and I was able to pass my inspection. These guys are scam artists, damaging things in your car on purpose while you wait just so you can pay them to "fix" it to pass the safety inspection. I have been going to Great Bea...

I have been going to Great Bear for the past 5 years and Tommy is the BEST! My 2000 Jeep has a chronic coil pack problem since 2008 when the original Jeep part failed. My Dad was in the auto wrecking business for 35 years and he told me the same thing that Tommy told me. The "after market" parts are not made to last. The manufacturer wants you to buy a new car so what Tommy did was put in the part (2nd one ... view moreso far) at his cost, no labor. Everything else on the car works fine thanks to Tommy. I`ve found this Great Bear to be honest, reliable and will work with you as best they can. A good mechanic is as hard to find as a good lawyer and doctor. I`m not letting go of this one.

photo inspection

I just bought a car and needed to get a photo inspection. I was informed by Carco Group, Inc, that this facility did that. However, when i called the first time, i was told to call back later because he was too busy to talk to me. I just wanted to ask if i need to make an appt. When i called back later that week around 5pm to ask the same question, he told me to ""just come on down."" So i happily did, but of course ... view morethere was traffic and my navigation took me the wrong place. When I called back at 540pm asking for the street location, the owner was very rude and outright nasty. He told me 530pm was the cutoff time and that he was located on 53rd and proceeded to hang-up on me as i was still speaking to him. So I was not able to get my car photo inspected, and because of the extremely rude customer service, i will easily go to another facility and make sure i tell everyone i know, not to go to great bear tire and auto so as not be subjected to the same nastiness i had to deal with.

TRIED TO CHARGE ME DEALER PRICES FOR A JUNK YARD PART

UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WITH TOMMY I own a 1996 Saturn, and it is old, but has been well maintained throughout the years considering the city miles. I have been a customer of Tommy`s from Great Bear located at 52-19 Queens Blvd for a little over 4 years. I will be fair, and honest in my experience with Tommy today. I own a standard, and a clip popped in the shifter, i called Tommy to let him know i was getting my car ... view moretowed to him, and if he could look at it for me. I also asked if he could check my window, and he said no problem. He later called my girlfriend, and stated that the clip in the shifter was broken, and Saturn no longer had the part. He then told her that he called a junk yard, and the part would cost me $225 not including labor. So it raised an eyebrow. Thankfully for me i have a cousin in the business who told me that was highway robbery.......I then call Tommy after speaking to my cousin, and asked him if there was a way to lower the price,,which of course he refused. I then tried to have a conversation with him, regarding the part, that wasnt anyway near worth that kind of money. His response was its $225 dollars plus labor, meaning almost 400 dollars for a 50 dollar part. Im assuming by his nonprofessional attitude he was insulted at the fact that i called the junk yard, and was told he wasn`t even quoted a price for the used part. So that tells me hes robbing me blind!!! I then stated after listening to him loose his cool,,that i would come pick my car up and take it elsewhere,,,his response was OKAY BUT IM CHARGING YOU 75 DOLLARS FOR BRINGING IT HERE.......I am completely taken back, and sick to my stomach to think of all the money i was overcharged......I will be reporting him to the BBB!!!! Great service at The right cost.

I had my brake job and a oil change at Great Bear the manager was very friendly and understanding of my needs, gave me a estimete for good parts and off brand parts. I lost my job and they knew how to fix my car and not brake my wallet.. Thanx Great Bear............:)
