Phil Dionne is a dishonest business person!

Here`s my story! We brought our car to Chelms Auto to be fixed. The owner, Phil Dionne told us that the starter was the problem and we gave him authorization to fix only the starter.We found out the following day it was not the starter and that it was a corroded battery cable. The cost to us was $417.00. Phil never informed us, and also never requested our permission to replace the cable. We went online to find out what our rights are of a consumer since they did not have auth from us to fix the car. According to MA Motor Veh Reg 940 CMR5.00 it states:""If the repair shop is unable to obtain written authorization from the customer to perform specific repairs (as when the specific repairs to be performed on the vehicle are not known at the time the vehicle is delivered to the repair shop), the repair shop notifies the customer, PRIOR to commencing any repairs, of the specific repairs to be performed on the vehicle and the total price to be charged the customer for such repairs, including parts and labor, and OBTAINS THE CUSTOMER`S AUTHORIZATION TO PERFORM SUCH REPAIRS"" After printing out the Motor Vehicle Reg 940 CMR5.00 & confronting Phil with this info, he obviously knew he was wrong and charged us $217 LESS than the initial $417. PHIL DIONNE is a complete rip off artist and we will be reporting him to the Attorney general`s office! Stay away from this place!

Dishonest!

I`d always heard about dishonest mechanics overcharging people for work, but until going to Chelmsford Automotive, I`d never had it happen to me. My experience with this business has made me wary of all auto repair shops.

After taking my car in for brake problems, I received a call from the mechanic telling me I`d need new front and rear brakes and rotors, and was quoted a cost of $1600 (that was the ONLY s... view moreervice being done on my car). Since I obviously couldn`t afford it, I chose to do only the front brakes, and paid $800. Later, when a coworker mentioned they were getting new front brakes and rotors done at a cost of $250, I decided to investigate further. Ultimately, I found that I had been charged $500 above the next highest price I could find for the same exact repairs (this being only the front brake repairs, the quoted price for the front and rear was $1100 higher than the next highest price I was quoted).

When talking about this with another person I know, they told me they had a similar experience with this company charging them 4x`s the going rate for the repairs they had done. Stay away!!!

Stay away if you like your wallet!

If you make the mistake of bringing your car here. Tell them numerous times not to touch the car without an estimate. I brought my car in with a stalling problem. I asked for a diagnostic of my problem along with the estimated cost. They did not call me and when I called the didn`t know yet. Finally I called back and they told me the mechanic was 6 hours into the job and it didn`t currently run. 950+ estimate... view mored dollars later... still waiting on the final cost. Be forewarned!
