Lemon Dealer
Hello everyone! I need to let the word out about this auto dealer. They buy cars from an auto auction out of Arizona. These cars that they purchase are appealing because they are different. They get sports cars, BMW, Jaguar, etc. and all sorts of stuff that is hard to find around this area. The prices are usually fair but unfortunately I found out why. Here is my story.
I purchased a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evoluti... view moreon through Reganis Auto Center from Lashley`s. I work at Reganis and have been looking for this car for some time. I was excited to see that Lashley`s had one so I got my manager to buy the car from Lashley`s for me.
Previous to buying the car I had test driven the vehicle while it was still at Lashley`s. I knew before I went there that it had some clutch problems because a friend had driven it and told me. I told the only salesman, Jeff Avila, that it had these problems. The funny thing is he denied knowing that it had these problems. I knew that was a lie because my buddy had told him previously. Jeff told me that he would have the mechanic check it out immediately.
Here is where the story gets good. I went to work and told my manager that I wanted this car. He contacted Lashley`s and got the car for me. I knew the clutch was bad and that was ok because it seemed like I was getting a good deal.
One night I was under the car and found that it was missing half of the transfer case (which transfers power from the engine to the rear wheels) and the whole drive shaft! This is going to be about a 2000 dollar fix at the minimum!
Again, Jeff had lied. Either he did not have the mechanic check the car because anybody can clearly see that these items were missing, or the mechanic checked the car and Jeff knew of the problem! Now I know why I got such a good deal.
The car is supposed to be all wheel drive and right now is just front wheel. The vehicle was marketed by Lashley`s as an all-wheel-drive and really was not. The vehicle is a complete lemon.
Well, I contacted them and told them I would split the cost of fixing the car since I should have checked. I took them to be a honest, a reputable, and a respectable dealer but they proved me completely wrong! They are not willing to work with me since I technically bought the car through Reganis, I cannot do anything legally to Lashely`s and they refuse to help. I believe they should be held accountable.
Please let my learning experience help deter you from buying from them!
