I am new to Western Michigan, ...

I am new to Western Michigan, and I stopped here to get a quote on a thermostat for my 2004 6cy Envoy. (The part is $23 on line all over the place). There are over 2.5 million of these made over the 6 years it was built. The quote called for 1.1 hours of labor...realistically a 45 minute job. After accepting their $125 quote I made the first appointment, @ 8am 6 days later. I had asked if they could have the part in ... view morestock...so that I did not have to wait for a part to be delivered. I also offered to bring my own part...but they said it was not needed, that they would handle it. I showed up at 750 for my appointment, as scheduled. They did not have the part as PROMISED. I WAITED ALMOST 3 HOURS to get a 1 hour job completed. This is not the issue, was annoyed to say the least...When it came time to pay the bill...She asked me to pay $176....40% higher than the quote. They did not ask if it was ok...they just did it. I asked if they were good at fixing blown gaskets...cause I was about to blow one. Gary the owner then came and explained that they did not order the part because they thought that I was not going to show up...even though I made it a point to explain my situation, and my time constraints, and the fact that I only have 1 vehicle. After Gary explained to me that my word and reputation was not worth a $23 part...I knew I had made a bad mistake. Gary asked me what I wanted, and I said that I really have no control over that...as he was walking away annoyed(not sure why, maybe it was because I told him that I was a GM at 1 time for a large dealership in MKE, and understood his business, then I asked him how he would feel if this would happen to him as a consumer...no response) ...he told the girl to charge me cost for the part. I`m not sure whose cost they charged me...but it was still way high. Gary has some work to do on his people skills. I guess these guys have been too successful not to be able to stand behind their quote...instead they "Jack" people around. Beware of this place, if you don`t not know how t0 service your auto!
