Scam artists up to their same old tricks
I gave this place another chance after staying away from them for over 15 years. Boy, was that a mistake!
They were up to their same old tricks and pulled out an extremely dirty air filter `prop` and left it on the counter, claiming it came out of MY vehicle. It didn`t! (I know it wasn`t my air filter they put on the counter because the wear lines didn?ˆ™t match up to my filter holder.) Then they attempted to ... view moreovercharge me for a new filter ($20-$30) and tried to convince me to use the expensive synthetic oil rather than the same old stuff the dealer recommends for my vehicle as if it`s made of sewer sludge. They then went on to their next scam and showed me an antifreeze tester with pale green water in it that indicated my antifreeze was only good down to 25 degrees. I tested it myself and it was a deep green color and measured protection down to -40 as it?ˆ™s supposed to.
Not only did they do these same scams 15 years ago, but they also nearly ruined my sports car by starting the engine to pull out of the garage WITHOUT the oil filter installed! A thick stream of oil gushed out as soon as the engine turned over; looking like someone had turned a hose on. If I hadn`t run up to the guy and yelled at him to shut off the motor, it surely would have been ruined. The guy then had the audacity to claim the drain plug was ?ˆ?just a little loose`. Yeah right. To add insult to injury, they added a watered down washer solution to my reservoir and it froze that same night. I only use washer fluid at full strength, so it definitely resulted from their watered down solution.
Don`t fall for their scams and stay away! Your corner gas station will do a more thorough job without trying to scam you. You`re much better off replacing your own air filters and washer fluids.
