Tire Pressure Sensor Problems

When I took my Toyota Prius to Tom Lyons to get 4 Nokian WR2 tires (the tires are great) the mechanic said that two of my tire pressure sensors were leaking. They removed them and put in rubber valve stems. They offered to get me new sensors, but they couldn`t program the computer so it would recognize the new sensors. I took the car to the Toyota dealer and they charged me $390 to replace the sensors. They examined ... view morethe sensors that Tom Lyons gave me and said that, "the cores have been stripped out and cannot be removed, backing of sensors is seperating from body." They said this was a common problem when improperly removing tires with TPMS sensors and that the company that broke the sensors should pay for their replacement. When I contacted Tom Lyons they said that, since they didn`t make any note of this, they would refuse to pay anything. Needless to say, I wouldn`t recommend going to Tom Lyons if you have tire pressure sensors in your wheels.
